So what are people doing with the oil filler breather hose if and when they switch to an after market air filter?

seeing as most after market air filters dont have a port for this hose, I am just sort of curious.

I have a 66 with a 1600 DP engine in it. The larger oil filled air cleaners wont fit under the deck lid and I feel like the smaller 66 and earlier air cleaners might restrict too much air flow for the bigger motor.

the previous owner put a little plug over the breather hose port on the oil filler which redirected all of the case gasses out of the little down tube that comes off the filler cap.

Just curious if there is a work around here that still allows me to use the rebreather set up.

I've run my 61 Baja with 1200 and 1300 air cleaners for 20 years now - always with either 1585 or 1641cc dual ports, and 34PICT-3 and 30PICT-1 carbs, never had a problem. Currently running a 66 air cleaner. And I happen to have a heater box with a preheat fitting and I use it. And I have the crankcase vent hooked up to it as well.

you make something work for it (plastic pipe and rubber hose) or just say screw the environment and leave it plugged lol

I have a 40 HP oil filled air cleaner, but it looks like the 66 air cleaner has a little bit larger of an air intake. I'd like to get my hands on one but I'm guessing it might take me a little while to find one of those.

Even better than that, I saw this image in one of the air cleaner threads of what looks to be an air cleaner made specifically to fit larger engines under 66 and older deck lids, now one of those would be nice as I could use my larger preheat set up. I believe this is the Part number 113 129 613Q.

I think you'll probably have to look outside the USA to find one of those, unfortunately.
