I just picked up a pair of these in amazing shape, along with a pair of never used scat dual port manifolds. They have very little use, if any, as everything came apart easily, is spotless inside, no varnish or signs of old fuel. They came from a collection that's been sitting for probably 35 years, so I know that much about them. They are PO 10 coded, meaning they came as a pair intended for VW engines, not 356, and the jets are 50 idles and 115 mains.
The vents are 25mm. Any ideas as to what displacement these would be good for? 15-1600 or smaller? I don't really have anything to put them on as all of my engines have dellorto's, is there a market for these? TIA, SD |

I like the simple formula in Keith Seumes book "Aircooled VW Engine interchange manual" where you from displacement and rev/min can get a rough understanding of the size of carb needed.
If you have 24 mm venturies I would say they are good for a 1300cc with a max rev somewhere around 4500 rpm. with the bigger 28 mm venturies it would be good for a 1600 cc motor and 5000 rpm.
It seems as the 28 mm ones are the most attractive ones as they goes on 356 Super and 356 C. But, if you have 24 mm venturies, please PM me |

tobiasax, the vents are stamped 32-24. My micrometer is in the truck so I can't get an actual read now, but I assume that's 24mm? Right?
I was going to soda blast them as there is a bit of oxidation on the corners of the outside, but after breaking one down I've changed my mind. I just scrubbed the body and lid down with a blue scotchbrite pad and it looks great. The bases have surface rust, not enough to be worried, but I will run them through the soda blast cabinet and then put it all together. Pics tomorrow. SD |

it is my understanding that P010 Zeniths are intended for use as a single carb.
do the base plates have a large "balance port" on the bottom between the throttle bores?
115 main & 50 idles would be ballpark jetting for a single zenith on a 12-1300 engine.
28mm vents would be WAY too big for a 1600.
mine didn't even like 25mm vents: lost all bottom end. _________________ 88 Van WBX, A/T - 13 JSW TDI 6M/T - 2012 Touareg TDI Sport |

...my comment was when using them as duals (so that each cylinder has its own port).
Single carb with plenum intake is another story, then you wouldn't want 28's on a 1600cc.
BTW: 115 is standard in NDIX for Porsche 1600N (the 60 hp motor). |

I had found a site that listed the PO10 as duals, but can't find it now. These have no balance port, and have linkage arms stamped L and R. |

here's before
and after soda blasting the bodies, and cleaning the brass. New o-rings on the idle jets, and good to go. I didn't break down the throttle shafts as they were smooth and have no signs of wear.
The manifolds look to be Scat, or Scat knock offs. The side where the Scat stamp would be is machined smooth so who knows. |

Meow.
esde: are the manifolds steel or aluminum?
All linkage arms are stamped L or R as well as carbs destined for dual applications.
Not saying that this couldn't be a VW "kit"...
O-rings go on the pump jets _________________ 88 Van WBX, A/T - 13 JSW TDI 6M/T - 2012 Touareg TDI Sport |

Yeah, I meant pump. Really.
Here's the "kit" as I found it.

nice set-up
zeniths are the most user friendly carbs i've worked with.
they're not super finicky and sensitive to minor jet changes like other dual (or single) 2bbs.
i'm not too up on the history aspect of who offered what kits though.
maybe someone else will recognize them. _________________ 88 Van WBX, A/T - 13 JSW TDI 6M/T - 2012 Touareg TDI Sport |

I have a vintage Berg linkage that needs a bit of repair, thinking that it would be a good mate to these. I'll have to make up the connecting arms though. Once I do it'll probably end up in the classifieds. |

Yes, I am in search for a set of NDIX with 24 mm vents (carbs only) jetted for being used in a dual configuration. |

Definitely an interesting looking carb. Is that the same company who made TV's? _________________ www.vwnos.com [email protected]

They are still available new... you could also lookout for S&S (Sauer Und Sohn) manifolds, and there are others as well
There are also 36 and 38 NDIX for those who like these on bigger engines, these are really cool vintage carbs! |

esde, if you are still around on this thread from 4 years ago, did you ever install these dual Zeniths on an engine? How'd they run? What color did you paint your manifolds? |

Rome, I traded this set for a very nice Porsche journal Okrasa, the sort of deal you hold your breath till it's all done. But, I did buy several basket case carbs for parts, and made up another pair that got installed on a 1600 with an old berg linkage. Sort of a pain in the ass to get tuned, as there isn't much info to guide you, but eventually it ran really well. I got a pair of Sauer Son manifolds with a cracked base, repaired it, and cobbled some air cleaners from old 36hp oil bath parts. Throttle response was great, and mileage was great too. I'll look for pics tonight _________________ modok wrote:
