As some of you know, I have been wanting to get my first beetle. I looked at a '67 yesterday but it had way too much rust. I found a great deal on a '73 super that has almost no rust at all! No exaggeration, The only rust I could find is the running boards, and new ones are $30 a piece so no biggie. I couldn't believe how solid the whole car is for what he wanted for it. The interior is pretty nice and the paint is really slick but has a few cracks. It runs great and shifts good, I think the clutch needs a little adjusting but not bad as is. He has papers that show the previous owner spent $1500 at the local VW shop in miscellaneous parts and repair. Not damage just minor stuff. Hes says the guy spent $3000 there on it but only had papers for that. There's not even hardly any surface rust on anything. It has a pretty nice speaker setup in it and an okay radio. He said he has about $4000 in the car total and I believe it. Yeah sure, it's a 40 year old car and still needs some work, but it's pretty dang good as is. Here are some pictures. These are from the ad, Ill take more later. Oh and I paid $2400 for it. Even though it's a super, I still think it's a great deal. The kid just needed to sell it fast.

All joking aside looks like a real nice score especially for that price if little/ no rust. _________________ I'm the humblest guy on this board.

Lol....Yeah I think it was a great deal. Of course, rust can hide really well, but I couldn't find anything besides minor surface rust in some places. Most places had none. He said it got a lot of complements about how solid it was at the vw shop. |

Not sure, aftermarket. It looks alright but I'm going to at least repaint it. |

How much gas do you normally have to give it to start off in first on level ground? Just above idle, a good bit? Probably just use to my '71 f100 that has alot more torque, it just seemed like I have to rev it a good bit to get going. |
