Good Luck Bubba. I just went through this exercise for my bungee's and decided to cut some brass and crimp them myself. Would love to find that exact crimp and I hope someone has a source.

Same here. I have the bungee material but the crimp material is elusive. I visited many hobby stores and hardware stores looking. I did find some stuff online but you need to buy a lot of it (too much for one person) and there was no guarantee it was the right stuff.

Found this in New Zealand.. maybe someone there can help us? I think the antique bronze sounds right... maybe in a 5 mm or 4mm?

I was thinking of using empty bullet casings(.22 cal or whatever cal) chopped down to size for the clamps. The antiquing part is then done. Just a matter of making the crimp tool.

I found a perfect match for the grey cord (SO-42 style) at hobby lobby. Same width (or very close) and dead on for color match.

These are close, albeit a bit thick.

The crimps are made out of brass. The grey cord is a late Westy thing 66-67; the earlier cord is red and white.

The SO-23 is a lighter brown.. But I'm going to experiment with bleach and water to lighten them up..

Pulled from a SO23. I've also seen the same patterns in SO34 and SO42.I'm sure there could have been variations.

I have an OG one in the closet in my bus.. It's a few shades light than the material have found. The pattern is not the same weave... But it will look similar to original. Very Happy

Just wild guessing but methinks they did use a "purpose made" crimping tool. Not just the correct diameter but proper "4-dimple" setup too! We have some special crimpers at work (aerospace). I'd guess some skilled mofo could make a set of "jaws" attacheable to a bench vise that can do the job just about as close to factory as possible!?! Think

The ones from my 1959 SO23 are medium brown and light beige. It compliments the brownish interior paint behind the cab.

Yes... That is the one that matches the ones in my bus. I'm going to try to lighten the stock I can find. Pattern is off a bit...
Also, taking a closer look at the crimp, I think I can make it out of one piece. I don,t know if I can get brass tubing to crush and form into the shape we are looking for.. But I know I can do it with cooper. Aged copper and aged brass look almost the same.
