Put in some time on the van finally yesterday.
My new battery needed to be charged, it's probably been sitting around NAPA for some time. Got it started, let the lifters clack away till they pumped up, then drove it around the block. a little stiff but no issues, next is a cleaning and tune up, then I have to find a few bits and pieces that have broken or have been lost.
Needs a bath
and wipers
checking everything, the ignition system is still tight.
Took a little cranking but it started.
Getting ready to hook up aux battery, I tried wiring a couple 12volt recargable batterys form computer UPS, they worked alright for awhile, but are dead as dead now. |

Very glad to see you again, and, as always, in the midst of doing superior work to save another fortunate van. As the Romans used to say,

Thanks!

Welcome back. I'm jealous of your van. I have an '82 GL tin top and wish I'd waited for a Westy. Mine was from Ohio too. _________________ '82 Vanagon GL with 2.0 4-speed. Long term plan is to turn it into a camper. |

You really know you are one of us when washing the car involves getting out the stepladder. |
