Wow thank you. I am using an Eastwood MIG 110v with 75/25 shielding gas. I paid about $279 for it 3.5 years ago.
I am certain a Lincoln or Miller is a nicer setup but I bought this welder when I first taught myself how to weld, and I've gotten used to it. Its made in the USA and Eastwood really stands behind their product. In fact, its outside of the warranty and the rep just sent me a new drive motor on their dime.
At the end of the day it really comes down to not rushing the job and getting the panels to fit, welding is the easy part. I have so much welding to do on this truck, thanks for the positive reinforcement. Happy to talk offline if you ever have any questions maybe I can help. Good luck! _________________ Shadetree Westy

A pillar was rotten in an odd place, so as much as it killed me I decided to
cut away a section of the nose to get to the repair. Here is the panel test fitted before cleaning the metal up:
Welded:
Treated with rust encapsulator from Eastwood:
Re-attaching the nose section that I cut out:
Had to fabricate a section below the turn signal that was rotten and probably the reason the a-pillar was soft.
Antenna holes gone. Might go without "radio" and just do satellite or stream. Or center antenna, no idea, just didn't like the holes.

Nice stitch work. I have to run my mig low so I do not blow through the thin metal. Getting ready to replace the floor pan and A pillars. Right now I am Flintstones style, yabadabadoo! Keep up the great work! _________________ 1967 Single Cab |

Don't get me wrong... Next to my daughter it's my greatest creation. I feel so great every time I see what I accomplished, but I will never buy a bus that needs an entire front floor again! _________________ Looking for a correct 1967 rear seat

Agreed!
Some minor updates. Some of these patches are really fiddly but they are getting done. Driver Seat Pedestal was really rotten so I managed to use a Thing door and I discovered the corrugated pressing is almost identical to the seat base.
Also I bought a 1500sp motor. Thanks Stan!
I saw this on Facebook and its a cool inspiration for a Single Camper.

Got a few more things done recently.
I had to figure out how to tackle this area.
So first I cut it out. This is a tricky spot for me cause you have a concave bend with a 90 on either side, as well as the intersection of two panels (shelf on the inside), so I broke it into steps.
This is how I decided to do the concave section:
Tacked it in, then started making cardboard templates for the next section:
A step back, so you can see how it fits:
And here's the panel. I tried to copy the way it was originally installed with spot welds.
Here it is welded in:
Next I made cardboard templates to finish the corner. The corrugation comes to an abrupt end to leave room for the side gate. This is a view of the same area but from the bed.
It was tough for me to due the concave bend in the middle so I did it separately and then tacked it on
And here she is welded in. I also filled in some random holes from one of the PO's
In between metal work I have been collecting parts, and working on other stuff. I find myself getting frustrated on some of these patches so I like to mix it up and take a break.
Removed the steering wheel. Thanks Stan for loaning me the puller!
66/67 Turn Signal Switch. Somebody ganked mine.
Nice horn button from Colorado
My Dad restored the windshield wiper motor, tested lubed and good to go!
Also he picked me up a new ignition (never had one), and a headlight switch since mine was toast.
I had to organize my shop because it was getting real bad. I had a random mix of Oval, Thing, and Transporter everywhere. Now all the Single Cab parts get their own shelf. The 1500sp is in a nice safe place. I just bought this motor a couple of weeks ago in Natick, MA. Thanks Stan!
My son was asking if he could help, so I picked up a small hammer and told him to work on the rust on the bed. He hammered on this thing for at least an hour and a half haha
