I have a brown stock interior table top with some kind of glue residue on it. (It's not the newer tan or gray tops). My guess is that the top is made of formica (?)

I want to remove the glue residue but not damage the material the table top is made of.

I tried 3M General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner but it did not work at all. I assume I need some other solvent than the nasties that are in the 3m product...

Any ideas?

Try this product:

http://www.amazon.com/Citra-Cleaner-Degreaser-Conc...=citrasolv

Works great. I keep a bottle in the shop and one in the house.

I use WD40 (in fact, residue removal is all I use it for).
