Random tranny problem

I just got my new motor installed last week and been having a problem that sometimes happens while shifting from 1st to 2nd. as soon as I push the clutch in the tires completely lock up, and skid to a stop. The tranny still works when I let the clutch back out but is stuck in 1st. After a few minutes of playing with the shifter it shifts normal. At first I thought it was the new dragfast shifter, so I reinstalled the stock one, and havn't had a problem until yesterday when it did it again. Since then I've been taking off in 2nd with no problems until today. The car was in neutral with the e-brake on, and I was revving it up from the back of the car when it lurched forward and died. I knew exactly what it was. I got in, started it back up and sure enough it was stuck in gear same as before. I worked it loose same as before now its fine again.
While the engine was being built I installed the Rhino tranny mounts from CB and a torque or kafer bar. I never had this problem with the old engine, but that was a 1600 this is a 2332. The clutch has never been dropped and never speed shifted, just some WOT passes to jet the carbs.
Any Ideas?
I have also noticed right before this happens it kinda hard to find some gears.
