Check out the corner trims on this early deluxe:
Notice anything odd? The ends closest to the engine lid are round and not pointed. I did a little search but can't find another picture of trims like these. Anyone have any suggestions as to why they're like this and not pointed? _________________

I have never seen any evidence that there were real German 'raised letter' white script tires in that era.
Most probably they were just painted for promo use of picture.
about the corner trim.
Is it posssible, that if one would straighten out the corner and the front bumper trim,
that they have the same length ?
they could've been the same part before getting shaped,
the front bumper trim has a rounded inner end too.
the rears apeear to be short, but considering they roll around the whole corner and to the wheel arches,
the trim piece is quite long. Anybody can take a measurement of that ? _________________ Hotrods, Fords, Veedubs and Triumph Twins !

No mention of it in PR that I can see.
Another early white roof deluxe, but with pointed ends...

Cool spot Scotty.
Everything about this bus is odd. It is possibly the first samba ever built being at least April 51. So it wouldn't surprise if other 51s were pointed.
