Roughly 4500 miles this year in Inga, would have been higher but I spent more than half the year overseas.

Awesome pix! Is that bug a true daily driver, or more take it out for fun? |
Thank you for the compliment. The bug was originally intended as something just for fun, but periodically and as of late been pressed into true daily driver duty. The nice thing is those duty requirements are now coming to an end, for retirement is come to my doorstep and driveway... I look forward to the prospect of more road trips now. _________________ 1960 Ragtop w/Semaphores "Inga" |

Thanks Stanagon. I’m really enjoying her. I even get a little excited when something is off cause it means I get to learn something new. Now I’m working a bunch of overtime to save up for a paint job. _________________ 1968 beetle 1500 "Penelope”

Compared to most of you, I am slacking big time. 400 miles in 2 years. About 100 of those miles have been on the track though. Thats got to count for something. _________________ 1970 Bug Shell - the rest of it, well see for yourself...

After a 6 month rehab of a car that languished in a back yard for 24 years, it looks like I’m going to break 10,000 miles... in 6 months.

Last year on this one we did:
Two 1200 km trips to Vernon BC
One 500 km trip to a family rebellion in Edmonton
One 850 km trip to a VW event Lethbridge
One 600 km trip to a VW gathering in Calgary
Three 160 km trips to Provost
Various little trips into town and back for a total of about 5,200 km. We had plans for more but work and life get in the way.
Oh ya! And a half a dozen km on the ice racing track.

My Ghia was getting run 3000 miles a month in the summers as a commuter car... no ice time up here anyway so sometimes March thru October but more often April to September, this was from 2003 up until the time I retired two years ago. It did great with monthly oil changes and a basic tune up at the start of each season, now it just gets the summertime grocery run and still does just fine. _________________ 66- Ghia

I had to add to this thread...
The 1968 VW that I had for almost 1 year I think I did maybe 200 miles, the 1970 Beetle that I had I drove off the trailer and maybe 300 feet down the driveway into the garage...that one I had maybe for 6 months...
I don't drive them much at all...too scary to drive them where I live...

'71 Squareback: 4,786 miles

1969 Fastback :3200 miles
1969 Type 34 : 256 miles

I broke the 10,000 mile mark before 6 months passed, shooting for 11,000 in six months. _________________ Everybody born before 1975 has a story, good, bad, or indifferent, about a VW.

Since I live in the city I don't rack up a lot of miles. This year the '57 Bug picked up 3230 miles and the '04 Tacoma less than 3000 miles (it only has 57,600 miles on it.) My '64 Mini-T exactly 0 miles, its been taking up a garage stall all year but now has a good used transaxle (I hope, I trust the seller) and new engine sitting in it. _________________
