|
|
I wanted to mount a fire extinguisher in my '69 Ghia convertible where I could reach it from the drivers seat with the static seat belt on! Previously it was rolling around the rear footwell. I was keen not to use screws if possible, and the little carpeted shelf by the side of the back seat seemed a good option.
Cut a bit of hardboard...
Covered it in black leather-look vinyl...
Screwed on the bracket...
More vinyl over the bolts...
Velcro on the bottom to stick to the carpet (other hook and loop tapes are available)!
Et voila!
It's too dark in the garage to show it in position, but the black vinyl should be pretty unobtrusive given the black vinyl elsewhere! Nice little job done for a Saturday morning!

Don't expect velcro to hold it in the event of an accident. It will become a missile. _________________ Glenn

I always just stashed mine in the footwell behind the driver's seat, wedged next to a rolled-up towel, so as not to rattle around. The towel has its useful purposes too, on hot or rainy days, or on impromptu car servicing occasions... _________________ David Ruby

I have it wedged in the gap between the heater channel and the seat rails right beside the driver's seat. It fits tightly with a rubber liner underneath. Easy to reach without having to strap it down. _________________ "Sometimes people forget they signed up to a HELP & SHARE Forum not a pissing contest"
