Jack,
Your bus and this thread are one of my favorites!
It inspired me to go find a SO 23 for myself.
Hope to meet you at a VW event in the future.
Happy New Year. |

Pretty cool that all the previous owners are accounted for and only two degrees of separation (max) between us, and all in Florida! Even though the original owner passed away shortly before I tracked him down, there's still a connection from the ownership synopsis he typed up and taped to that board that survived each subsequent owner and you still have 😎 _________________ -Kent (BaT "daleallen")

Embarrassed it's been almost 2 years since I updated this thread! Still driving/loving my Westy. Need to rebuild the motor, still, but it keeps going.
Biggest update was meeting the second owner at Bulli 2020. He recognized it despite the fact that the OG owner had already painted it Blue White over Turquoise when he bought it in the mid-80s. He told the story of how he found it, early Bulli and Bug Jam events, its eventual sale to the University of Florida Soils professor and his wife from whom Kent bought it, etc.
From Bulli Brigade 2020:

Take care of you. _________________ Freedom for the Catalan Countries

Hello,
First of all: Very nice bus and nice story (I also had a '67 21windows). Very nice busses on this post!
Second: sorry for spoiling your post. We just acquired a late '59 SO23 and doing papers, I need to know the weight of the car. I only found kombi's weight. Should anybody know Westfalia equiped busses weight?
Thank you very much and keep enjoying busses.

PM me your address, I'll arrange a carrier plane pallet drop next cycle instead of sending it to the middle east.
No guarantee there won't be a pallet slamming through your roof but the money should cover those repairs too |
Try to schedule the drop on a windy night so some of it has a chance of blowing over into my yard! (I'll share some with Jack ) _________________ -Kent (BaT "daleallen")
