My glove box is in good condition but has been painted on the inside (I think and has some stains on the outside. I tried cleaning the outside with thinner but that did no good. A solid wood stain might work on the outside or some spray paint the correct hardboard/cardboard color. Any ideas on the best method to make this box look better? Correct inside color? |

I have been looking into this flocking thing. It looks like you could easily make the flocking gun if you have an air gun and compressor. It looks like the fabric is mixed and picked up and shot out of the can. You can buy the flocking material cheap from several sources. The adhesive can be as simple as oil based paint the right color, Also, they make a pvc backed flocking fabric for $6 a yard. Several options. I just don't have $80 bucks to spend on that! |

OK! That worked! If anyone has one of these air canisters/gun, I would like to know how the inside is made so I can make one. |

No offence to those that flock/restore glove boxes. Later when I can afford it I might have mine flocked. Here is what I did. I used Kiltz/Bullseye primer to seal the box. Then I sprayed Rust-oleum auto light grey primer, then Rust-oleum "Camouflage Sand" color. looks good! |

Were the glove boxes flocked on the outside as well as the inside when new? |

My OG box had some tears in it so I used some paper mache to patch the tears (used grocery store bag material instead of newspaper) and then I sprayed it with drywall texture and painted it with VW L466 silver beige to match the steering wheel. Came out pretty good, not as good/correct as flocking and silver beige isn't the correct OG color, but the drywall texture hid the paper mache repairs nicelyl and it looks tons better then a black plastic replacement. |

What is the closest color match for the factory 1958-67 glovebox? |
