Great winter project and a nice find. Looks like a pretty solid body. Replacement (new or used) fenders should be easy enough to find, even locally.

Chassis is back from the powder coater guy/Redi-Strip...It's the original floor, very solid with the usual minor pitting from rust. Could have smoothed over all the imperfections, but this car will be getting abused by a 16yr old, new driver soon! Chassis will need paint again in a few years I suspect. Picture quality is poor, better ones when we have more time/progress. I'd say about 80% paint in the tunnel. Detailed photos when we're putting it back together.

Dash panel stripped of most of it's "stuff". Looks like a lot of detailed engineering work went into this design. Much more complex than the Type 1's dash panel.

CLICK PIC for Hi Res: Reverse angle. Again, lots of detail work here. Three fold down dash pods, folding windshield latches, heater and defroster ducting, and that wiper motor.

Original factory shock still in place w/snubber. Noticed for the first time that the snubbers are Type 181 specific!

Keep up the progress, looks like a great car. I restored a 73 a few years back, if you have any questions this forum is full of great folks.

The deconstruction continues in the worst recorded Chicago winter. Inside the "trunk". Trunk had been sealed from 1978 until 2013.

Good shot so we don't mix up wire position 58 and 54.
