I'm building a rail for doing control work and hunting. I'll be having a cargo rack on the back and pull a small trailer. The factory thing dual muffler looks ideal but expensive and reading that it doesn't last long. The TriMill looks good but going through the posts here it sounds like it is loud. I need something I can drive through town, start up at 5AM in the neighbor hood, drive through a ranchers yard and not be obnoxious plus pass a state inspection. The machine has unbaffled canons on it now and they are loud.

What do you think, I only have 11 inches between the engine pulley and the cage.

I am currently running the TriMil exhaust and it is defintely not a quiet muffler. I replaced an EMPI copycat version of the TriMil with the real thing after the EMPI finally gave up the ghost. It was also loud.

I do like the look of the "hot dog" style exhaust on my Thing and it is functional however none of these are very quiet and, in my opinion, the TriMil is not worth the extra money over the EMPI version.

I tried the baffles made for my dual cannons on my buggy and wasn't impressed, so I welded stainless steel beetle pea shooters in them. It works surprisingly well, is cheap and fits the character of the car.

I tried Empi's tri-mil copy and it was terrible loud. By far the quietest thing exhaust out of several I've had is the vintage speed unit. It's expensive but it's really nice.

It looks like they have made improvements since I bought mine, but wow the price is up.
