Hey Everyone,
I have been doing some research on the history of my SC. There is a sticker on the rear bed gate that has the first name of the dealership torn off. I ended up calling a VW dealer in Price George and spoke with an old timer parts guy who gave me the full name of a dealership that had gone out of business years ago since the death of its owner Larry Brown. So this guy remembers the Larry Brown Motors Dealership where my SC may have been first sold or received service. I am trying to locate others of the region who may have knowledge or memorabilia from the Larry Brown Dealership. I found a Ford Mustang Forum that has a thread from a member who put a down payment on a Mustang back in 1972 at the Larry Brown Motors Dealership in Prince George which leads me to believe this Larry guy had more than one Dealership or specialized in many different vehicles.
Good Fun!
Thanks _________________ 1967 Single Cab |

You need to message ovalhobo.
He's in PG and has good contacts in the vw scene.
Hope you can track the info down!

PG was far from a large town in those days, Larry likely sold nearly all the makes from one lot. _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

Could have been a used car sales lot. I should probably take/use the term Dealership loosely.
Since we are on the subject of stickers, here is a cool sticker that is on the rear window of the SC.

New sales guy for Larry Brown. The dude apparently did not have a job for very long. This ran three months before the blow out sale. Ok, I am getting carried away

Hi again. I live in Prince George.
I spoke to a guy today who told me that Larry Brown was in fact a used car dealership and not a VW dealership. hub City VW was around then. Larry Brown was on Victoria street down town. _________________ 1956 pgsg bus

All the same, it is very cool to see some local PG history all the way down in sunny California!
On a different note, there is a guy here in PG who purchased a beetle at Hub City sometime in the late 70s and has NEVER driven it. It has been parked in a heated spot since new. I'll try to find some details on it. _________________ 1956 pgsg bus

That link BusDaddy posted referring to the PG local newspaper is awesome. There is so much history documented in those pages.
There is one article in the sports section from 1969 talking about the Cassius Clay vs Rocky Marciano fight. Good stuff! This is before he became Ali. _________________ 1967 Single Cab |
