It is way too big for my needs - I'm never more than a day away from a water source - so I'm not using it.

Feel like I should keep it intact due to it's relative rareness but OldHuldy67's post (http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=261355&start=7180 today has got me thinking again about chopping it down....

For now I have rigged up a smaller temporary solution. I installed a barb fitting at the bottom for the pump line, it has a vent, and it can be filled
from the top... but it has no drain so it's not ideal. The space under the seat can be used for much more important things than 30 litres of water IMO. Very Happy

as you can see, i kept one jump seat in, closest to the door since when it's raining or blazing oppressive hot out i'll have the awning out and sit right at the door. my arb fridge, which is behind the driver seat, can be used as a seat if need be. the red basket (i know, kind of janky) on the table is my bookcase for hiking, nature, etc. that's my bed you see folded back (wool topper plus memory foam. most comfy bed EVER.)

i have a 7 gallon water jug behind my driver seat and another 5 gallon under the bench seat. i have one of those hammocks that hold jackets; my mountainsmith cubes (which move around the van) hold other random stuff.

I've lurked on many of your threads and and admire your travels... one day I might travel as much as you (insert crossed fingers here)

Eventually building one to store porta-crapper and to use as a seat.

Ours is a pop top Weekender with the jump seat behind the drivers seat and a table.
If my daughter didn't have so much fun sitting there while we tool down the road, I'd install what you have.

If that left side table spins to be in tandem with the galley, I'd be all over it

Thanks for the quick reply. Looks like a nice spartan version of the westy. I like it!

The door post is in the way or you would see that there is no stove, just a sink in the smaller kitchen cabinet. There is no fridge either, just an icebox the same size as a fridge, so the drawer and storage below the drawer are smaller. Nice setup, just add a Truckfridge and a 1 burner stove.

Nice - great stuff, keep it coming! I'm also embarking on a portable camping interior that sits in the garage 95% of the time, and clamps into the van for camping trips. Will update with pics of my $500 rooftop camping setup from last year.

Here is the most current incarnation of the interior of mine. I'd still like to get a rear overhead box built similar to the westy set up, except something that goes all the way across.

Don't have any pics of the central area, but you get the idea. Smile

I'm a small dude and am totally content with the space and utility. I love the aesthetic of tin top VW's and prefer it to the Westies. Though, I do wish I had a sunroof van sometimes... Twould be nice to stand straight up while cooking.

i found the interior very comfortable to use, i drove it all around the UK and europe, this is a 3rd generation in VW's, i did others in previous vans
being a panel van it was perfect for stealth camping, i miss it
