Can anyone tell me what the extra nipple at the botttom of the tank is, the one with the hose and a bolt for a plug. (the bolt isn't very visible in picture.
I am not comfortable with this setup as the hose could easily come off.

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Any suggestions to permanently plug the nipple?

Probably the best way is to weld it. Caution!! Welding on fuel tanks can be dangerous if not done correctly.

Wash it with soap and water and fill it with argon before welding. Hit it with a spark while it is full of fumes and you will have a bomb.

Or you could just replace it. New ones are $120 - $180 and will not have the extra bung.

Buy an expandable plug for the one you want to plug, just make sure the rubber doesn't get eaten by the fuel.

tap it and put a drain plug with a crush washer in it.

I like the idea of tapping it.
I thought that I had read that the Ghia aftermarket tanks didn't fit very well, and besides this one looks almost new on the inside.

Thanks for the replies. Does anyone know why the extra nipple is there?
