Hey my brothers,
Warms an old man's heart to hear all of the input.
With the mad rush to finish off the car i kind of over-did it.
Lots of other life stuff got put off so it's all about getting caught back up.
Helped Damon with his car, getting this stupid Beetle out of the way, going on vacation, etc.
All the while been scheming on the giant final push coming here in a couple weeks,...
Getting everything 100% ready so when it happens, it can happen.
And it always ends up being a battle..
For example, we're batting a Goose Egg trying to get shocks.
If you go to the Koni website, they list this part number for front shocks:
Obviously, these won't work, as they're for a late-model Beetle.
Type 3s use early link-pin style.
Sure wish aircooled.net wasn't so messed up..
The rear shocks, the box ripped open, and the shocks fell out.
Someone at USPS taped the box back together and sent me an empty box.
So now, trying to get a refund, called and also sent pics to the vendor and made a claim with Amazon (fuck Amazon! :fist: )
And they are hiding now that i want this handled.
Anyways,
The project is still perking along in the background.
There's a big big list of little things to be done,
And they will all happen in a flurry one day soon.
But only when everything is all sitting here ready.. _________________ Bus Motor Build

You probably needed the mini-vacation after that previous trash trying to get it done the last time.
As tram would put it, getting the pregnant roller skate done and out of the way is a good thing. It allows you to concentrate on one vehicle at a time.
At least now I know I'm not the only one USPS or Amazon does that crap to. Sometimes it's just quicker and easier to order up a replacement than deal with idiots. I've got a set of rear brake shoes that they don't want back, because they were put in the wrong box (no idea what they're for either). They sent me an e-mail with an in store credit too, and told me to keep them. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

I don’t mean to steal Steve’s thunder. But I did come across a podcast I’ve never listened to. Hopefully you all can open it.

Yeahman, that was fun to do. Any of you read this thread will know it only touched a few subjects lightly,
And it was already and hour and a half long..
Been listening to a ton of those; the ones where he talks to racers are my favorite.
Here's a link directly to the site:

As for the project, this pic kind of says it all:

That interview was great. Sure, it was just the “Tip” but well done. That stupid car needs to be on a cover of some magazine. It’s truly a special car. More important is Clatter’s family. A dude that does what he does and maintains his family needs is truly special. You, me, and skills drinking whatever on the patio in Santa Cruz would be epic. But I think Skills is afraid of flying and hippies on the west coast. And he’ll be rocking sandals and socks _________________ Keep on Busin'

don't all type 3's take the same shocks??
it comes up as 80-1349 front, and 80-1350 rear for my 65 on the Koni site
I've been looking at replacing mine... every time I cross the train tracks going to work I cringe 8-

they're weird.
a friend of mine who owns a restoration shop and has had several vw's featured with them sent them my way when they reached out to him for another feature car.
they use to turn up at a show here. anyway, the guy (editor?) at the time called me. we had a pretty decent chat and he had me shoot him some photos.
crickets
mind you, my buddy had done 3 cars for 1 customer, all of those made the mag, his personal car did and i think 4-5 more.
granted, mine is a bay window but it's done to the 9's. it would be cool to see this car in there for sure
if it makes it, i want a signed copy from Clatter _________________

The whole magazine feature thing is on me at this point.
They need professional-quality pictures for a magazine.
Pics unique enough to make a feature different and interesting..
It's what magazines are all about, right?.
The more i gear up to do it, the more i realize it takes a lot to do well.
Have a pro photog lined up and all,
But have to get the car to a point where it will run up the highway to get the shots we want.
As it is now,
The tops of the pistons would be melting and pouring out the exhaust about half-way there.. _________________ Bus Motor Build

what? that's pretty lame. i'll have to find the photo's of them doing the shoot in RI, then again CT.
do they actually guarantee you a feature, or is it just like a 'definite maybe' ? _________________
