I'm not sure if this has been posted, but I just found it on Youtube and it's pretty sweet.
It's a review of some of the top UK conversion shops and what they are doing with the T5. Yes, some of it is a bit over the top and $$$, but it sure gets the mind spinning about slick custom drawer and cabinet options! (Takeaway: drawers beat cabinets for a lot of things!
About 20 minutes, hi def, professionally shot, well worth a look.
Check it out:

They never show the sleeping arrangements folded out, ready for bed. It looks like most of them had two single beds. That's no fun. _________________ 89' Dove Blue Syncro Hightop |

It's amazing how much more room they get with the engine up front. I think for sleeping and preping meals, you can't really beat the vanagon camper's layout. Thank you for sharing. I am going to watch again tonight with my wife on our Chromecast. _________________ ☮️ |

Thanks for the post CJ. Interesting that many of the companies are going back to the front hinged poptop. It's too bad we don't get these choices here in the USA, even if I they are spendy.
We are renting a California T5 this summer for two weeks out of Germany. Plan to camp through France or wherever we end up. Can't wait. |

I sure like the fit and finish on some of those, but I think I'll keep my Westy!
Don't really need a bathroom, or such large cooking areas. We usually cook outside and use the inner burners for tea and coffee. Although there have been times in bad weather we'll cook something simple inside.
And I 3x agree about the sleeping arrangements.
I did like the outdoor showers though. We had thought about fitting a water heater, but ended up buying a portable shower setup.
The real question is what do those cost? I'm sure that if VW ever brings the T6 to North America it will be big $$$.
Thanks ClimberJohn for posting that, much fun to watch! _________________ Currently:

The original Doubleback in full length is much cooler. The one in the review/comparison above was the "short" version.

Ok, the Doubleback might be nice for a family of 2-3, but for the price tag I don't like to hear things like "seat belts for up to 3 but can sleep 4." How is my kid's friend supposed to get to the campsite? |

That's why they now offer the "short" version so it can seat 5! |

I'm puzzled why any of these try to cram in a shower. The one thing European camping areas have over those in N America (ok besides being in cool European villages) is the shower block and running hot water in the bathrooms. And on a final note, I just don't like the idea of a toilet in my food prep and eating area! _________________ '69 Squareback RIP

Those showers are for gypsies who can't afford fancy campers with showers! _________________ 89 Syncro GL Westfalia 2.1 WBX/WBXaustSS

I didn't like any of them, too confining! My Westy is laid out better.
There must be a requirement to have a toilet in Europe. Sleeping in them must be awful, not one of the beds looked comfortable, and they didn't show us the bad ones. _________________ ________________________________________

Some nice "RVs" in that vid. The fit and finish on most of those are very nice we own a Road Trek on a MB platform, the platform itself is great but the camper / RV part of the package is horrible. (For the price). I too would rather have a Vanagon/ Westy/ Synro but the wife wont hear of it. |

I actually liked many of them. I have to agree though, would be nice to have see the beds laid out... _________________ 1997 EVC

The question I have is why are these sold in Europe and not here in the states? There is certainly an audience and market for them…. |

Perhaps I'm too fond of Westfalia's original floor plan, but I didn't care for any of those. Give me the T5 California any day of the week over those... but I still prefer my Vanagon. _________________ ~Kamz

Seriously the T5 California is just about perfect. Those vans all look stuffed with nothing that I want.
The kitchen hallways in most of those campers look way to cramped to work |
