What is this bracket for? 1963 bus.

I am having a hell of a time getting the tank to squeeze into place. It keeps wedging against the bracket. any tips?

It's for the 1500cc stock hanging air cleaner.

I don't remember hitting that bracket on my '63 but I do remember having to get it just right to angle it in there.
Keep trying I guess...

IIRC, putting the tank in filler neck first, using the engine bay to maneuver the tank itself as you line up the neck, then swinging the tank into place last was the winning combo for me. My a/c bracket is on the other side, tho...

It takes a bit of wiggling. Are you by chance using the repop WW tank. I had terrible time getting mine in so I tried the old tank, with a bit of wrangling it slipped right in. Once out again I noticed the filler neck was at a very slight different angle. A quick bend of the neck at the tank mount point, very slight, not enough to notice really and the tank slipped right in.

Btw. The repop seems like a good tank, I think that the neck may have been knocked in shipping.
