So today was the event and it was crazy. The place was packed and the speakers gave stories from the heart. The last speaker was a doctor @ MSKCC and told how he learned that his 17 year old daughter had a very race cancer. So rare that MSKCC only sees 3 people a year with it.

Another spoke that the cancer was treated by a process developed by MSKCC and funded by Cycle for Survival.

Your dollars make a real different that can be seen, heard and hugged.

Here's some preliminary numbers.

I raised $3319.
My team raised $24,902
Cycle for Survival 2019 raised $33,172,197
Since 2007 $212,000,000

Thousands of lives saved.

As it turns out, fund raising for this year has not ended. You can still donate to our team until 4/1/2019.

Maria (team leader and Sue's sister), me, Stacy (my daughter that I hope never loses another loved one to cancer)

Another year and we're still fighting.

Unfortunately a good friends 40 year old daughter had a relapse after having breast cancer and now it's spread to her brain and spine.

I started fundraising on Monday and already received $850 in donations. No donation is too small, even $5 helps. And 100% of your donation goes to
research.

To donate click on the link and you'll be directed to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center's website. It's 100% secure and your information is NOT sold or used for soliciting

I'm half way to my goal of $2500. I was told that next week there will be a donor that will match all donations dollar for dollar so your donation will double. I'll let you know when that is.

In the mean time I created a QR Code so you can scan it with your smartphone and it will take you to my MSKCC donation site.

It's started, starting today and ending on December 31st, your donation is being matched dollar for dollar. so your $10 donation will become $20. Your $25 becomes $50 and your $100 becomes $200. The matching won't happen until next month so you won't see it immediately.

Now is the time but if you want to wait for the donation to be in 2020, they event isn't until February 29th so there's no rush.

To donate, simply click on the link below and it will take you to MSKCC's website. From there you can enter your credit card information. It's 100% secure and 100% of your donation goes to research. There are NO credit card fees and all administrative costs are paid for by corporate sponsors.

Thanks you in advance for your continued support.

Stats:

$1310 raised since Friday when donations will be matched. That will be $2620 when the matching is done.

$2825 raised with 8 more weeks till the event.

But the best is 28 people have donated. No amount is too small. $5 and $10 do help and if made before the end of the year, they will be matched.

Thanks to those that have donated and their continued support.

A coworker (47 female) came up with colon cancer. Just felt tired and thought it was thyroid. Doctor insisted on a colonoscopy. She had surgery last Monday, probably saved her life

Fuck cancer

Love a good donation like that accepts PayPal Smile

Thanks so much for the donation.

Yes, they do take Paypal and credit cards and both waved the processing fees so 100% goes to research.

Like your friend, I got my first colonoscopy at 55. I just got tired of a childhood friend nagging me. In the recovery room the doctor asked what symptoms I had, I replied none. He said there's a 2.5cm polyp between the transverse and descending colon and I might of just saved my life. I was given the option of surgery where they remove about a foot of my colon or seeing a specialist in Manhattan that might be able to remove it during a colonoscopy. So I had my second colonoscopy 10 days later. It was removed and i was able to walk out and took the subway and railroad home. A week later the pathology came back as pre-cancer and would of been full blown within a year. 8 years later i've had numerous rechecks and i'm not on a 5 year recheck and cancer free.

DON'T PUT IT OFF AND GET YOURSELF CHECKED.

So the actual event is this Saturday. So far our team has raised $39,552. This brings out 10 year total to just over $300,000.

It's not too late to donate and push us over the $40k mark.

Fear and misinformation even some machismo associated with colonoscopy. I had first one done about 10 years ago then had another within 5 years. Both times removed polyps. Third one last year all good. There is no rational excuse for not getting this done as they can catch cancer early.

I guess the only limiting factor would be no health insurance, 😐

I had my first at 55 and they found a 2cm polyps that was per-cancerous. I was told I was maybe a year away from having colon cancer. I had it removed during a second colonoscopy and saved myself a operation where they remove feet of the colon and having to have a colostomy bag while it healed.

Early detection is the key, but with some cancers like brain and pancreatic, there are no symptoms until late stage.
