No, as far as I know the pump is unique to the Mexican Beetle.

AFAIK in the original pierburg design (hopkin posted the spec sheet for that IIRC) the actual pump unit is indeed a standard part, but the swirl pot is FI beetle-specific and it not serviceable, or at least that's what pierburg stated. _________________ cars:

I have a 1984 Mexican Beetle. Does anyone know what year the back glass and rear 1/4 glass lines up with for a US spec Beetle? I am eventually going to replace the window seals and put the metal trim back in them, and don't know exactly which parts to purchase. _________________ *ASE Recertified Master Automotive Tech*

My parts list shows the rear quarter windows to be the same from 1972 on:

The parts lists shows that rear window was the same from 1972 to 1984 and then changed in 1985:

On my 2001 mexi I have late rear quarters my main source of mexi parts do not have rear quarters but I have found on mercadolibre.mx they do have but so far have not risked shopping from them yet.
here is the windows use google for translation:

found out SPG on mercadolibre.mx will ship to the US so I will have to make a gamble with a computer... _________________ 2001 Ultima Clasico Edicion Mexibeetle

Looking for help with the paint code for a '98 green Mexican bug. I think it may be Verde Perlado but can't find a US paint code. I have a zero mile car that has been sitting out in the sun for too long and needs an exterior repaint. _________________ 1967 Ghia

Thanks. My chassis number is 2VWS1A1BO WM523050 - is that a '98 or '99? I can't find a manufacturer's ID plate under the hood, and all of the paper tags are dry and faded. _________________ 1967 Ghia

Here's a VIN guide for the cars, yours is a '98:

Back to fuel pumps.
How can I tell if a pump is going out?
A friend has ended up stranded twice due to mysterious reasons:
First, the coil went haywire (unknown brand, cheap), got replaced by a known to work one, and went ok.
Then, it died again, but no coil replacement made it run until the car cooled down. He suspects the pump may be to blame.
Things to consider:
->The ECU shuts the pump off and will not turn it back on, so we had to remove the relay and bypass the circuit. It operates whenever ignition is ON.
->The car ran fine like this for a few months.
->The IAC valve was also making weird buzzing sounds before all this, and got replaced with a VDO unit. It works fine now.
->He's trying to sell the car. Perhaps it doesn't want to go away?
I know no good mechanics around with EFI knowledge to troubleshoot it. _________________ 1998 Volkswagen Sedan (MexiBeetle, daily drive)

Hello, I am brand new here. My name is Lorenzo and I'm a missionary in Guatemala. My beetle is a 97 1600i motor and it's my daily driver. It's always loaded with stuff and climbing mountains. Recently everytime I come to a stop the idle starts surging up and down. If I kick the pedal quickly sometimes it will even out. I have a OBD2 scanner that works on my other vehicles but not this one. Any ideas I could try? |

The color code for Verde Jade Perlado is LC6M/T3
