Hello, I am brand new here. My name is Lorenzo and I'm a missionary in Guatemala. My beetle is a 97 1600i motor and it's my daily driver. It's always loaded with stuff and climbing mountains. Recently everytime I come to a stop the idle starts surging up and down. If I kick the pedal quickly sometimes it will even out. I have a OBD2 scanner that works on my other vehicles but not this one. Any ideas I could try?

there is an engine carb/throttle body cleaner called seafoam its good for cleaning out the engine and throttle body either as a engine cleaner and or straight in the tank it will help good luck if all fails try mercadolibre.com.mx and look for a new throttle body

I had the same issue with my 98. It is either the idle speed sensor (black round thing on back side of intake manifold below throttle body or it could be an air leak in the green line that runs from the engine to the computer below the back seat. I would take some crab cleaner and spray the green line as the car idles and see if it smooth out, if so its leaking. I had a green hose disconnect inside the computer box and took for ever to get it right.

It's a Hella light PN# 2ZR 003 030 (clear lens).

Soto is correct, the light is an aftermarket light and is still listed in the current Hella catalog.

BTW the light is available with a red lens (could be used for a rear fog light or brake light):
Hella: 2NE 003 030

I originally bought the one with a red lens to replace a cheap rear fog light that was on my car when I bought it. At that time all I wanted was a Hella light and spotted the one I bought on eBay. A couple years later I wanted to add the backup light with one that would match the rear fog light.

It took a bit of searching but I found the backup light. The housings and shape of the lens are identical between the two lights.

I like your set up, I have a NOS 911 rear fog lamp, which is the same.
I can always use more when backing up. With your numbers, I found one on EBay UK. Thanks Here my fog lamp

I hooked the reverse light up to the passenger side reverse light (using connector, see below) in the lens and ran a blue wire (same colour as VW used for reverse light), through the existing tube:

All lights on!

Both lights are mounted using the bumper bolts, no drilling.

Very simple hookup and easily reversed (no pun intended) if you change your mind on the setup.

Back in August I replaced the oil seals in my engine:

At that time I noticed the front wheel bearings were loose, so I tightened them and put my Antares rims back on the car, no problem!

Well, during the winter I store the car with the stock rims mounted:

After tightening the wheel bearings the stock rims rubbed on the brake calipers. I ordered some spacers from cip1 and picked up some longer wheel lugs (from a MK II Golf and/or Jetta).

You can see how much longer the ‘new’ lugs are, stock lug is on the right. (The head is 17 mm, the stock lug is 19 mm).

As the stock rims never rubbed before, I can only guess that the wheel bearings have always been loose, I never noticed and I guess I was lucky. When I inspected them (when I tightened them), they seem to be fine.

I have a new set just in case!

I can see that, but I can't think of any other explanation as that is the only thing that changed since last year. Any other ideas?

Hello.

I need help to find the correct brake fluid to use in my Mex 2003.

Is time to replace all the brake fluid. The car has 14,000 Km and I am the only owner. The Mex instructions manual, on page 27, stated to use the following brake fluid NOM174LFD 13 or 4, but I cannot find it.

Please let me know what today brake fluid I can use to replace it. That I cannot have problem with master cylinder, calipers and rear brake cylinders, also the rubber hoses. If I not wrong using the incorrect brake fluid can do a damage on the brake systems

Maybe Antonio Trejo knows what is the correct brake fluid to be used on my Mex 2003.

THANKS Wink

When I did my brakes a couple years ago I flushed the brake fluid, this is what I used:

73B: You don't need the stuff I used, there is a spec called out in the second picture, just look for brake fluid that shows that. It's pretty standard, so you should be able to find what you need just about anywhere.

[email protected]

Looks like outlook label emails from The Samba as spam, I have been missing a lot of requests.
