Well i welded up frame head today. I took lots of photos but have just discovered memory card wasn't in camera. Its the triangular plate that fuel pump sits on was rotten . After grinding big hole maybe 2 " x 3" . It seems water/wet mud had been lying on top of plate and then started rusting from top down .On the other side under the master cylinder is also rusty but no holes yet . Seems the plates are a rust trap so check your cars . I just plated it for now but eventually entire bottom frame head will need doing. Hoping a good soaking in wax- oil will slow down rust. managed to do a reasonable weld despite lying on my back underneath welding upside down. No fires either . Best of all no burns on me ( which is very unusual) |

Just received my order from Antonio today, 2 days shipping from Antonio. He threw in the #30 relay from free!
I added the steering damper to my order after I read Garba's comments, I thought I'd get a spare. _________________ 1971 Super Beetle (past)

well I built up most of my parts' stash by reading yours/Gerrelt's/bruce's comments, finally it's starting to work on both ways. BTW I had the exact same damper from France (hecho en Mexico, of course! )
ps. thanks heavens I've already passed the inspection so I know the silencer/cat is good, otherwise after your post I'll be already buying one for the joy of the family. _________________ cars:

We test emissions every 2 years here, the last time my car was tested was 2015. It was close to a fail, so I'm anticipating a fail this time. If it passes, I'll leave the exhaust as it is until 2019.
I also bought a set of heater boxes ($100 for both) from my neighbor (2 years ago). They were on his car for only a couple hundred miles so they are like new:

Ouch, I hope it turns up, I paid $370 (US) for a spare one last year. Hasta Alaska (Ben Jamin) originally bought this one from Antonio and shipped it to Canada. Ben didn't need it and since the ECU was already in Canada; I bought it (Ben thought the ECU in his bus was destroyed in the fire):

I'm not happy as i paid extra for their premium service . The tracking number only worked within the UK . It got as far as Germany but after that there is no further information. It will be 20 days before they consider it lost and another 90 days before they pay any compensation |

Don't fret yet, as I'm waiting 2 weeks for a shipment from Germany, it can be slow sometimes.
Keep checking the tracking, it could take a month. _________________ 1971 Super Beetle (past)

I saw this link on the 'Open Air' facebook page, this car is for sale in Germany (with Oval window):
I looked closely at the production plate number, this car was made the same day as my car, just 41 cars later (this car = 2338126, my car = 2338085)
My car:
It was imported by the same importer to Germany (based on the importer plate) with the same light deflection sticker:
My Car:
It even looks like it has the same carpets (passenger side of car for sale):
My car (when I bought it):

unfortunately for a brand new replacement one in the EU prices are up to the equivalent of 500 US$. _________________ cars:

bugger took the most expensive royal mail service but it's only £250 maximum compensation and i will have to wait months . It's crazy the tracking doesn't work once outside britain. I had two address labels on it and senders details inside so i'm desperately hoping it gets found eventually |

If you sent it Royal Post, try the tracking number on the Deutsche Post website as well as the UK tracking website.
Sometimes it will appear in one country's system and not another, I always check both.

I often use a web service called 17track.net. it usually tracks pretty much every carrier out there, provided they have their own traking system, of course. put the royal mail tracking number, select destination carrier (IIRC for royal mail the carrier in Germany is either Deutsche Post or DHL -same group) _________________ cars:

Why do not you use wheel caps? _________________ VW Käfer (Vocho), First registration date in Deutschland: 14/09/1984, Engine 1200.

I take my good tires and rims off for winter storage, the tires and rims in the pictures are the original factory tires and rims. I'll change them out in a couple weeks, once the weather warms:
I think the rims above are called Antares rims. _________________ 1971 Super Beetle (past)
