Hey Gang,
I just acquired a '73 super and it came without a horn button. It looks like sometime in '73 VW switched the type. could you help me figure out which one I need? The close-up photo shows the part# of the backing plate(whatever its called)

There's at least two versions:

Classic Brands. Classic Quality.
Not all parts are made the same. NOS OE/OEM parts made mainly in West Germany, Early Germany, and Early Brazil are where VW produced the best quality parts and best fitting products.

Here are some pics from my '73 Super Beetle, built somewhat early in the model year, November '72.

I was having problems with mine. I tried the turn style on it and it gets hung up when you try to turn it. Maybe it can be made to work. I put the flat style back on and it works fine. If you have the flat style you will want to make sure the plastic contacts that hold it are good and not worn otherwise it flops off. _________________ www.vwnos.com [email protected]
