I got this in a box of parts with a '63 and a '64 ghia. The back side looks different from every other side badge I've seen. I'm not sure if the early '60's cars came like this or if it's aftermarket. It's in really nice shape if its an original.

You're right, that is good quality. Never ever seen one like it. Everything I've owned was either flat or de-bossed with the lettering/logo on the back side.
To cast in strengthening ribs like that took care/time/effort/money.
Love to hear where it came from if you ever find out !

I talked with Mike at House of Ghia on Sunday and he thought there may have been more than one manufacturer used back in the day. This one might have simply came from another supplier that only made a limited number of them. It is very sturdy, that's for sure. Heavier than the others. You wouldn't typically find that in the aftermarket world. |
