Been a while so I thought I'd update where this is up to.
As you can see, the seats still require some attention, I've got a brand new set of TMI covers to go on, just need to find some time to do them now. I've done all the important stuff underneath first, so hopefully come new year the interior will be fixed up too. _________________ 1971 Iberian Red UK Type 3 Fastback

Looks good, Nice job. The interior can wait until the cold weather arrives, as that'll give you something to do over the winter months (a warm place to work).
At first I thought that was a "hover Van" in the background, until it fully loaded up. Then I realised it was just somebodies work van. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

You still running skinny 175's on the back? We told you we run 205's on similar wheels. That could be why your handling isn't satisfactory. _________________ https://imgur.com/user/FisherSquareback/posts

So my front wing had been badly smoothed with filler and an early tank fitted to fill under the bonnet. My headlamp bowl on drivers side was rusting out, so thought I'd try and put it back how it originally was.
Got my hands on this (pretty hard to find in the UK):
And one of these:
Then set about going from this:
To this:
A bit more looking around, I found these:
A bit of work and had this:
Used some white vinegar for a week or two like this:

After the vinegar and a good pressure wash out I had:
Bought these:
And it was off to the bodyshop
Tank in (don't worry, I had the rot cut out and welded whilst it was in for work):
Think the door is off an earlier car, trim doesn't quite line up, I'll fix that later.
New tyres:
Old shocks were a bit...erm....dead:
Cars a bit lowered so some suitable replacements:
And that's where it's up to now, just needs it's alignment checking over I think, keeps wanting to step out still on left hand bends. _________________ 1971 Iberian Red UK Type 3 Fastback

Oh I forgot, we spent Christmas re-covering seats
Currently on the lookout for some moulding for along the outer rockers. _________________ 1971 Iberian Red UK Type 3 Fastback

Car dropped off with Chris Gilley(my local specialist), for him to hopefully work his magic on and get to the bottom of the odd handling. Was a lovely morning for a drive out
After driving about in the other halves 1303s, which is lowered at the front and a bit harsh, the Fastback felt lovely to ride in again! _________________ 1971 Iberian Red UK Type 3 Fastback

Not sure I'd get away with it much lower with roads around here sadly. It was lower when I got it but I had to raise it as my beam was betting battered
Finally got round to undersealing the new wing today
Shiny new shock:
Tried to find the top arm play my mechanic reported.. I couldn't replicate it. Going to adjust the stabiliser to take in any slack any way. _________________ 1971 Iberian Red UK Type 3 Fastback

Ongoing saga continues...lol
Beam fully greased, adjusted. Feels better and was surprised how much play was taken up on the top arms. Dropped in and spoke to my local garage about aligning it...looks like they're game for the 'string method' at some point in the near future!
I'm currently experimenting with tyre pressures, with so far encouraging results at improving handling.
Jobs for the weekend....

Is that a cover over the entire disc???? is that something required over there? _________________ Schnell, SCHNELL!

It is an entire cover and no it's not a requirement. I've not seen it on any other type 3 but it looks factory? It's weird as heck :/ something I kept meaning to ask if anyone could shed any light on? _________________ 1971 Iberian Red UK Type 3 Fastback

Been mainly out at shows this weekend, but managed to get one small job done. Remembered my passenger side headlamp bowl looked somewhat crusty last time I had it open. So took light off, updated bulb, cleaned, treated, painted and waxoyled the headlamp bowl. It wasn't too bad tbf, dark areas are the kurust doing its thing.

So my front luggage compartment was looking a bit barebones since I swapped the tank and threw out the nasty old piece of carpet someone had put in as a DIY measure, for my birthday my fiancé had me a liner fabricated and fitted.
Looks a bit looser than it is on these pics. It's glued at tops but left unglued at bottom for access to workings underneath if required. _________________ 1971 Iberian Red UK Type 3 Fastback

That looks really nice, far better than the factory solution |
