As a Canadian, i'm lethal with the soldering-iron-as-throwing-knife, so don't need the BFG Laughing

I know Pelican cases are pretty pimp, but has anyone found another brand of case that would do the trick at a fraction of the cost?

These could do the trick at a fifth of the cost:

I just haven't found one with the right dimensions yet.

I bought an SKB case to save money. It is good quality but not up to Pelican standards. Prices on the SKB don't seem so cheap now, but this one below looks like a good value. How good does it really need to be anyway?

This is my SKB and (GW inspired) Do It Myself locking bar across the top. BTW, black absorbs massive heat inside and outside, so I painted the top of mine white. If you can get a lighter color, you might not need to paint it.

Here is a link to the SKB model I bought for comparison. Probably other brands out there too. If you search tactical weapons case or short rifle case you are in the right general size for the roof.

I use GoWesty's Locking Strap to secure my 1720. It's where I keep all my spare parts. Right now Productioncase.com has it for $245 with free shipping.

Having a nice case like that on top will draw the Meth heads like a magnet to rip off your Westy. Just my opinion.

I've had it for over three years, surprise all the stuff you could fit in there besides a big ass rifle. I carry suby alternator, tools, and other just in case stuff.

Why? Because they think there is an automatic rifle inside?!

Cool mounting solution, but you just drilled holes in a Pelican case, which drops its worth to almost nothing. Shocked

Not worried about re-selling the 1720. Did seal up the holes I drilled so hopefully it will be pretty weatherproof.

How is the case working out for you? Now that you've had it for a year, what are you carrying in it?
