I'm finally nearing the end of the re-fab of my frame and before I can tear it back down for sandblast and paint I need to make sure any tabs and mounts I need are welded on. Problem is my brain is burnt out and the metal grindings in my sinuses are making me cross-eyed.
So, I need help thinking of things that I might want to mount to the cage. For example, fire extinguishers, or jacks. My buggy will look like a tank when I'm done so I plan to have a go anywhere look to it.
Lets have fun with this. I want to see what kind of things people mount up that they thought they couldn't do without. _________________ Brian H.

Put some tabs on cage in places thst look like they may support something, like for light bars or roof racks or... few well paced tab can always be connected to with extension brackets... I even put one on cage to support a center rear view mirror, but never got around to mounting a mirror...
Go by a place where they build and install GARAGE DOORS.... And see if you can get long perforated bracket (right hand bar in picture) ..... Mount (weld) it on as sort of a universal bracket...

I am adding a winch to mine with recievers front and rear and a receiver by the motor to hold it when I'm not stuck.

These are all great ideas.
Sounds like a funny question, but is there a good place to buy ammo cans from? Curious what a mount could look like.
ED - I am going to do the same thing. Have you figured out how to securely attach a receiver to tubing without it looking gaudy? I've been thinking Harbour freight sells a bolt on unit that would work as a base.
I was thinking a metal first aid kit would be smart.
Anyone know of a good place to find latches or "bails" for strapping things into a mount? _________________ Brian H.

Hose clamps become your best friend.
Anyone hive a cheap solution for mounting a fire ext., obviously needs to be able to be removed rapidly. |

^ that's why I was wondering about the bail thingies that you flip to unlatch. They come with a mount that works good on the floor but I wouldn't want to mount one outside the cockpit where it can catch something and tear that plastic mount apart... _________________ Brian H.

Fire extinguisher. I took a piece of band steel, about 3/4" wide and 1/16" thick and an old fire extinguisher, and heated the band until it was cherry red, bent it around the base of the old FE and welded it shut at the ends. Then I put a plate in the bottom and welded it in. This got welded to a spot on the driver's side, right near the driver's seat, but outside the rail. I then welded the attachment that comes with all FE's to the rollcage. I snapped it shut on a new FE and used a tiny zip tie to keep it shut until needed. When needed, it will be very easy to pull the handle and break the zip tie, but it won't break on it's own under normal use. If I see fire, I'm getting out right away. The FE is now RIGHT THERE as I get out.
I have though about putting another on the other side too. Let's see if I can find a pic.

OC this is what I have done for my recoveries
Front, you don't see it with my body on.
The 2 wire connectors
Ant the rear, it is in the under bars that I still need to paint. I added a tube and notched both tubes to fit it in
The rear looks nice when it is on the buggy.

A friend of mine is a dealer for these AKE extinguishers. Dynamite in a small package. Im more confident in this cutie on my 4 wheeler than the 10 pounder in my pickup. But they aren't cheap!

Since your rail lacks doors it is also missing the OEM bottle opener between the door hinges. you will have to weld one on your rail somewhere |

I don't know about your area, but, around here a mount for a 5 gal plastic gas can and racks for several long guns are required equipment...
