Which is the correct cargo door mechanism for a 1962 (4/62) Double Cab?

I've had my DC for 25+ years, with mechanism Part #221-841-605B, exterior cargo door handle #221-841-631C. It is a mechanism with interior locking lever below the inner door handle (see pictures).

Per PR (A-57), the locking wing door began approx. 31 JUL 1961 at chassis #802 986 (beginning of '62 model year). That's the only lead I can find, since the Parts Catalogs, etc., don't call out 605B specifically. However, 211-841-605D is there, but no reference to "B." Notice mine does NOT have the raised section found on "D" versions over the latch itself.

With it being original-to-me and not in the references, I'd like to know if it is correct for my DC or not. If not, (1) which is the definitively correct mechanism (part #?) for my 4.62 DC and (2) for what application is the 605B mechanism correct? Thanks.

Sometimes a part is superseded with another version of the part. Meaning later buses get the later version, which may get a suffix of A, B, C, D etc. as it is superceded. Theoretically the later version is an improvement.

If there are only cosmetic differences between the B, C and D versions, references to the differences get a bit sparse. This may have happened here.

Some parts have cosmetic differences, but keep the same part number.

If you look at the front of an OG VW Parts List, it has pages of supercessions.
Each actual copy of a parts list is different, depending on which pages were added, and which pages were tossed when the replacements arrived form headquarters. The online versions is only one copy of the 63 edition. The og copy of the 63 edition on my shelf will have some info missing from the online copy, and possibly some left out.

Do you have side by side pics of a B a C and a D? what raised section?
Honestly, I had not paid attention to this detail. I men, I knew that the locking lever was added for 62, but had not noticed that there were different versions of the mechanism with locking lever.

I would say that since yours was made shortly after the locking lever was added, odds are that yours would have the earliest version of it as og.

I know all about the nomenclature, superseding part numbers, improvements, etc., but I appreciate the response.

This is why I posted, because I've simply exhausted all the references, both physical and digital, I could find. I do not have side-by-side pictures, and it doesn't matter really, as I'm looking to confirm what version it left the factory with and nothing else. I'm fairly certain the "B" is correct, but the hope is to confirm. We all need to be compulsive about something, right? Haha, cheers.

Excellent, this is exactly the kind of information I'm looking for for my interest in correctness, as well as to make this thread a more definitive resource for future, detail-oriented types haha.

Do you mind me asking for your partial VIN, or your month/year on the DC, just for reference? Thanks again for building upon on the thread.

Here's the "D" cargo assembly from my 7/63 15-Window, with the raised section mentioned:
