Don't add one here! A hook placed in the hole and tore the metal apart.

Here is a link.......

http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=520559

You could leave the bumper on, utilize the long bolts as the link shows and mount nice looking tow brackets or hooks on the face of it.
The front bumper removes very easily.

The rear has factory loops at each bumper mount.

Thanks for the replies.
I certainley wont mont them like that Timwhy but my parts van has heavy front bar mounts that have to bolts per side that go up through the chassis there with plates on the top of the chassis. I thought they would make a solid mount but I wasnt keen yet on drilling holes if I could help it.

Djkeev I like that idea I might go with somthing like that.
I dont think Aussie vans have the rear hooks you are reffering too (well mine dont anyway)

Here is a photo of the loops on our rear bumpers.
They are part of the bumper mounting post that bolts into the frame.

The bumper is removed in this photo clearly showing the mounts and loops.
If you need a hook, modifications can be made I'm sure..........

I checked out that thread, the hole thats used does that have a large opening behind it?
Ive checkeded out me 82, 83 and 87 and the I cant see were there is a smaller hole front and back?
Even so I think if a hole is drilled in the same fashion it would be a strong as possible on the front end.
