vapor lock is when you gas gets too hot in the fuel line.
stock pump?
fuel lines laying on the case?

how about a picture of the engine so we can see the layout

Or you could have flooded the engine. When you get a chance, pull off the air cleaners and start the engine. once it is warmed up, let it idle for about 5 minutes. Then using a strong flash light, look down each carb and see if there is any fuel dripping or dribbling inside of the carburetor. The butterfly plates should be pretty much dry, since the fuel is being pulled through the idle circuit passages that are below the butterflies. If you see fuel dripping, it can be a couple of options: the floats may be set too high, or you have too much fuel pressure.

Also, how hot was the engine when this occurred? Most of the time, electrical components tend to fail when the engine is hot. I doubt that it is vapor lock, todays duel blends do not vapor lock as readily as years past. To check for vapor lock, is very similar to checking for a dripping carb. When the engine dies, pull off an air cleaner, shine a flash light down the carb and work the carb linkage. If you get a squirt of fuel from the accelerator pump, you don't have vapor lock.
