i've had some new seals i got in a PO parts box for a long time and finally thought i might try one yesterday. i started with the back hatch seal and when i went to pull out the original, i found it was lightly glued in. i went ahead and just pressed the new one in, but it got me wondering if anyone ever glues their seals in. if so, what do you use?

Contact cement is the bomb. Apply to both surfaces and let it tack up, then adhere the seal.

Mine were fresh and just pushed in but old ones were just tacked on the corners and came out in 5 mins with no scraping or cleaning.

Depends on the fit. There were wolf's and had NO fit issues but if one need a little stretch round the corners I would go with the 3m and do both surfaces, but assemble wet so you could adjust a little, because if assembled dry where you first put them thats were they stay with out damage- d'oh! d'oh!

First tailgate seal I had I glued in all round. Was impossible to remove and got shredded when removed for painting.
Second soft, quality rubber one I glued only at top left and top right corners where it is exposed to the air.
. Keeps the rain from going under the seal at that point , all the remaining seal tucks nicely into the channel without glue.

My buddy borninabus told me that the doors can stick to the seals and pull them out sometimes, so I glued them at least some to prevent that from happening. Very Happy

i have no idea of the provenance of these seals, but this one fit well once i figured out the orientation. still there was a corner that just didn't tuck; i can see a little glue not being a bad thing.

"Gasgacinch" Is the closest to factory that you are gonna find. All others are very permanent. And you can use it on your valve cover gaskets.
