I think a killer idea for a 3d printed part would be a custom soap/hand sanitizer dispenser for the spice rack - over the sink. However there are two different spice racks.

How about the front sliding door latch cover on a Westy, like Winston's, for instance, cracked on the top part. Is there a replacement available, or could we print one? Ecce:

I finally took a good picture of it with this thread in mind. I finally took apart Winston's sliding door hatch cover to be certain whether he needed that printed bumper or not. New style sliding latch cover! Old style latch. No bumper needed. Winston was assembled late in 1984.

Shocked

Best!

I would love a cell phone holder that fits in the ashtray, so that I can use it for music/gps while driving and it doesn’t slide all over the place. Maybe even somehow wire a USB port in it to plug and tuck a charging cable.

I went with this for $10…seems to be OK. It puts the phone close to you so you can toggle your GoPro on and off or whatever it is you need to be doing. The ashtray is a long reach for me…

I have a magnet thing for my commuter car that attached to a vent blade, but seems like a 3-d printed thing that can fit in the ash tray would be perfect.

I'm interested. Order for the safety catch cover and two pop-top bumpers pending from unibagel and Uniwerkes.

Best!

--

Follow up: He shipped quickly, the bumpers for the pop top fitted perfectly. The safety catch cover appears better-constructed than the original and the color is very good. I do need to figure out how best to install it.

I didn't mind paying his price for the items. Having the ability to get such aesthetically and functionally vital little bits and pieces is worth rewarding the people who do the hard work to make it happen.

Thank you, Uniwerkes!

Best!

Thank you for your kind words, msinabottle!

Installation is very simple, Pop out the snaps holding the door panel to the door in the area of the safety catch cover. Pull old cover out, slide new one in, pop the snaps back to hold the door panel to the door. Smile

Thank YOU. Good timing, too. I have noted that the passenger's side thin plastic curtain loop cover on my Westfalia, and many others, is cracked and slowly disintegrating. I promised you pictures of the part, ecce:

You print it, I'll buy it! I CAN give you measurements if you can't get specs or precise ones of your own.

msinabottle,

I can make a replacement but it would have to be 2 pieces, I could fasten them together though. I would need the part to reverse engineer though...

how about a westy sunroof fantastic fan install kit?! need a filler plate for the outside of the van, to fill in the drainage channels around the sunroof and a spacer for the inside to make it thick enough.
