looks fantastic, very nice design, but im worried that the first hot day it will deform from heat. what infill percentage did you use? i try to print things as solid as possible for the heat range of a hot car which can soften PLA or ABS.

It's made with an industrial/high temp ASA. The pedal and pivot arm are printed solid. Only the floor mounted frame isn't solid, that's 50% infill but with extra thick perimeters. I've got no worries about the thing melting on me.

Any recommendations on the best hosting site for these files? Thingiverse, etc?

Are there any sites that search multiple hosting sites at once for stl files?

I am using google for searching stl files, but it usually show the STLfinder and STLbase sites as a result Both show mostly thingiverse and sketchfab items in one place

I've been plagued by vacuum leak issues on my '85 around the rubber intake boot in the midst of an ignition system rebuild (new MAF, Temp II, AAR). Despite swapping the boot out, I'd not been able to get reliable, long-term seals with the breather and auxiliary hose fittings, and getting remakes of either of those seems to be impossible as well.

So I designed and 3D printed a couple in PETG!

I did check this chemical resistance data sheet and will be watching closely to see how things wear over time, but I'm optimistic.

To user mrfusn, you might find the PETG to get soft and distort at underhood temperatures. It gets soft at about 140ish Fahrenheit. ABS or ASA would be better for anything automotive. Even inside the cabin temperatures can quickly rise over that and melt PETG.

love the idea, here in Spain I found a company that prints anything by demand.

the thing is... I need the files, maybe you guys should put them in some platform where people can donate some $ and use those files anywhere around the world.

on the other hand, I printed one of those pieces to put in the ashtray hole and it looked nice 1 week, now after some months in changed its form.. maybe the sun, maybe the screws.. dunno

Search in Thingiverse (https://thingiverse.com) for "Vanagon" or "T3", there are quite a number of free models available there.

Most likely the material used to print it was PLA, which is greatly impacted by the sun and by high temperatures. My understanding is if you want to print something for the interior of the van, needs to be made at least with PET. If it's going to be put on the outside or in the engine compartment, then it should be printed using ABS or ASA.

Awesome stuff!

Any chance you'll share this one? Wanted to do this exact thing. Would save me some time Smile Didn't see it on thingiverse.

Edit: just realized you laser cut. Any chance you have a layout drawing for that? I can convert to a stl. Not a huge deal to create if not.

I've managed to find my flue vent one but I'll need to dig in my files at home for the one for the gowesty plugs.

Sliding door trim

Not an exact replica, but fit well on the first print. Will probably adjust slightly at some point. The slot is located about 1/8" too low. Works fine, just visual.

Anyone have a CAD file for the curtain clips? If not I’ll throw something together later today.

I think I saw on thingiverse, but not sure.
Probably named for T3 or T25 and not Vanagon

Couldn't find anything T3/Vanagon specific, but these look like they'll fit. Will print them and follow up.

Can’t say that it was worth the time to print all of these, but they work! Need to find a darker brown ABS though.

Also printed a badge to cover some screw holes from my PO’s non-functional gauges. Will eventually house various switches + status LEDs, just taped on as a proof of concept.

I printed the same thing for mine! I used petg and printed them solid.

I also printed a mold for silicone and a nylon washer and a bit of Moly coat and rebuilt my throttle body. Got tens of thousands of miles on those 3d printed parts.

I'd be lost without the thing frankly.
