Guy asked me was it bad to have the bearing number stamped into the saddle - sounds like it might have got 'pounded' in. He says he can just barely feel a ridge on the saddle and that it's still got STD dimensions and does not seem out of round. So.. how could that be? Is it possible for the p/n to be transferred from the bearing to saddle without knocking the shit out of the saddle? Is the bearing harder or softer thsan the saddle??? I'd have assumed the bearing would wear before the saddle... but I'm often wrong.

Very Common for the bearing info to transfer to the saddle.

Good stuff, thanks. The back of the bearings must be stronger than the case - is that right? I never thought about it before.
