Well I sold an IRS pan to a man in Rochester N.Y , In that he saw my signature Manx ,and told me he had a Manx Body that needed restoration , I had just finished refreshing a Manx 2 in Yuma yellow original gel coat and told him about it, he came to look at it loved it and bought it from me , he then bought a Kellison T- bucket off me , and now he is hooked ! He also just bought the Yuma Yellow un-built #26 signature Kit , He is now also a new Member of the Manx Club
So a new friendship has been Made.
Anyway he has a friend in England , and they were all Going to Disney together , So he had his friend pick up a couple of Manx Hardtop Roof fitting Kits with them to Disney from England ,and save on shipping.
So to my surprise , my doorbell rang and he showed up with one of these kits for me , I offered him the money and said it was a gift , for all that I had done for him. Awsome !!!!!!!!!!
So here are some pictures
This Kit is made By Flatlands Engineering out of Norfolk England .
It list for 55 Euro which ends up around $75.87 US dollors.
Il let You know how it works! |

Does it to fit a Manx or a Manxter? Are there any pictures of it installed? My experience with Manx hardtops is that the front lip fits over the windshield frame and then a couple clamps hold it to the rollbar. |

It's for a Manx windshield frame - I saw a UK magazine article some years ago where this style clamp was used to mount top.
I'll see if I can possibly dig up the info -

I would love to have those two front clamps!
I have been trying to figure out how to clamp the front, now guess I will be making a set. _________________ Bad News Racing 2018 NORRA 1000 3rd in Class

They come up from underneath the hard top, slide the felt covered side against the windshield frame and the bolt comes down from the top through the roof.
Super simple. _________________ Bad News Racing 2018 NORRA 1000 3rd in Class

So why is that better than using the front windscreen frame lip and spring setup the roofs come stock with ?
Surely those clamps would mean more rattling as the stock ones are spring loaded ? |

I have never seen the spring loaded units. My hard top has the channel lip, and I want to make two additional points for front security at speed, (I have been know to exceed the speed limit and do not want to loose my top).
Can you provide a picture of the spring loaded units? _________________ Bad News Racing 2018 NORRA 1000 3rd in Class

Wow! That is one the complex system, but I understand why it was made that way. With only a rol bar, the chassis/body/windshield frame can flex and loosen depending on terrain. Mine is a full tube chassis with a full roll cage, so, no flex, no movement.
My hard top is not a Manx, and it totally wraps around the windshield channel. I will line it with felt to take away the rattle on the front leading lip and then solid mount it in the rear.
I will make a mount similar to Mark's post, but it will pull against the rol cage up front instead of the windshield frame, (because the tubing hides the windshield frame)

I think it's a good system because it's simple and very solid. More at high speed the hardtop doesn't flaps on the windshield.
It is not necessary to make holes in the rollbar or windshield
You take off 4 screw and you lift off the hardtop very quickly if you want.

Hi Guys , the reason I got it, is the shop that built my buggy, installed my windshield at a rake that was a little off. I do have the original Manx hardtop hardware installed as well.
So the day I was leaving for Manx on the Banx I went to pick up My new built buggy , it was windy out , I have the three piece top and only had the main piece on , and before I new it a big gust came and it blew completely backwards before I could grab it . those spring were like a catapult this is while I was driving , Luckily nothing happened to the buggy ,but the top , where the metal bars that connect to the roll bar stress cracked the fiberglass on both sides , it was because it did not catch the lip of the windshield correctly , this was in 2012.
Last year Vince = surfnc Grinded down the edges for me and we got a better fit , but with this kit and the Manx hardware I should have a nice tight snug top , the hardware is drilled through the top and the front is locked and wedged against the window lip.
So that's the reason I got it ; my window angle! |

Firstly none of the hardtops that Meyers Manx have made since they re-introduced them 10+ years ago have fitted into the screen groove like in Bruce's sketch, they all fit over the screen the same as joecoolcustom's.
Secondly the Flatlands kit is nice, but mine is just as secure as theirs. I just used two 2" 'P' clips from a friendly local hydraulic hose specialist onto the roll bar along with two small pieces of wood, two 6mm cup square bolts c/w flat washers and wingnuts. Total cost around $10-
I only know of one person who fitted a hardtop with the spring and lever set-up and he lost it within a few miles, it just blew off. They definitely need something to secure behind the screen |

Sorry but the Buggy and the hardtop are a couple of hundred minles apart at the moment. |
