Ha! Its funny you mention that - I was close and I did see it. I was even going to try and mix something close.
Granted it was a logo bus. But where I dare draw the line with a bear - teddy no less. I profess is sad, not bad to make law enforcement mad with probable cause No toys for me you see - so please no associations with any kind of felony.

Looks good Jason. Should look even better with one of those Westy trailers you have in your stash behind it. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

Irony.
Done as in ready to go to the VW Alley held today. I started this whole "change the look" thing just to bring to this show. Last night all was done. I felt good, drove the bus around earlier - drove great. Cleaned and buttoned up all the little stuff with it and the trailer. So Im sitting there sipping a beer, just looking at the finished product and think to myself - hey I want some ice cream to celebrate! So I jump in the panel and head off to Safeway for a frosty treat. On the way back - pop - goes the clutch cable I call three shops with no hope at 730 pm till I give up, pissed.
Redemption.
Good thing I have a 77 Westfalia that isn't to shabby and a nice drive. I had a great time and will fix the panel for the next show. Im just glad it poped here close to home and not out on the road or at the show. Blessings counted.

Couple updates for the old panel. My cousin drove out with me to the Cascade Kombi Vintage Meet the week end last. I drove the 77 Westfalia and he drove the 76 Panel with the westy trailer in tow. The panel got some looks but not as many as the trailer did! People left and right want a cool little westy trailer - but when I told them what to do to get one and or what to pay someone like me to get one and sell it to them - a lot of the dreams went pOOf!
But the panel sure looked good lined up on Bay Alley
Today I had to move the last of my stuff from storage - it was all VW parts and the stuff for the 74 resto. How hard core can you be to move VW parts in a VW bus Got the last of it situated. Now I need to start working on the 74!
Start with an empty panel.
Then load it with some vintage VW stuff.
After that I decided to use the already powdercoated silver rims on the panel. They were going to be used for the 74 but the og rims from the 76 are way cleaner than these from the 74 - no pock rust marks from sittin in the Texas soil. So after unloading the swag - I went down to Discount and had them swap them out.
No complaints at all - turned out real nice I think!
Snoopy and Buddy approve.

what was the original rim color for these panels? i started out thinking black was best but then i ended up with one silver rim and it looks pretty great with my white panel. _________________ '74 transporter panel

Are you going to add hubcaps?
White or gray painted would look pretty cool I think! _________________ 1976 Westy

Hi, I'm in London, UK. Just getting my '75 imported Canadian Panel on the road over here, it's pretty original with the 1800cc and in some pics looks almost identical to yours with the eberspacher fittings etc. It's got great bodywork and is pastel white and comes from Medicine Hat in Alberta and was a bread delivery van apparently. I am missing that heater button on the dash (I couldn't work out what the hole was for until I saw your pics) and I also have the raised metal piece in the back) I have no heater pipes underneath whatsoever anymore (they weren't there when I bought it three weeks ago from the guy who imported it.) Great to see an almost identical van! - JJ _________________ '75 Bay LHD OG Paint Panel Van imported from Medicine Hat in Alberta Canada. |

So did they remove the Eberspacher completely? |
Yea I reckon so, nothing underneath, just pipes that go nowhere as connecting tubes are missing, I can see a bracket that it would fix too and the pipe is there for it where it goes up into the cargo area. Does yours have a heated rear windscreen? I've got a button for it and the rear screen but not wired together, wondered if this was standard for panel vans in canada in 75, 76. - I'll send you a pic or two when I get a chance to take some. - J _________________ '75 Bay LHD OG Paint Panel Van imported from Medicine Hat in Alberta Canada. |
