When I first moved back to Seattle in Aug of 11 - I bought a 68 bombed out panel. After two days of looking over the carcass I bought - I immediately sold it and got my $ back. I was bummed but knew I should wait for the right one.

I did - this 76 Canadian Cool

I drove up to Burlington to meet the last owner - younger fellow that said this was his first bus. After driving - I could tell it was well kept in the mechanical department and was more than happy to overlook the flaws. He said the last guy owned a Toy Store and painted the "Run to my bus - kids" theme. Confused Ok if you plan on bringing balloons to the Childrens hospital or use it for display for an actual Toy Store - but since I want it back to OG the present look will be going.

This is going to be a fun work hack Ill enjoy cleaning, diving and learning about.

Any ideas on what it should look like? I had a few.

Awesome find looks to be in good order. DO NOT remove or eliminate the paint job!!! Bear powered buses are very hard to find. Congratulations on the $400 hard to find unobtanium ( unless it's in the Samba classifieds) middle seat. Very Happy

I just watched the vid. I did not earlier, I have a short attention span. You need to find a new narrator. Laughing

I'm in love!! Truly a rare find. I have a 75 pa el I can't wait to get back in the road. Type4 in the panel spells faster than well a panel with a stock type1 WinkI

Congratulations.

Compared to the Westfalia this thing drives like a sports car.

First noticed detail.

In these pics we can see the original jack with its uber rare rubber band attached Cool Anyone have a PN for that Laughing

If you notice the jack goes into a plastic bag and not one made of headliner material like for my 74?

Can anyone confirm its originality?

My '78 had that same white plastic bag. I don't remember the green dot on the jack, however.

I hope so Laughing

This bus isnt all beat to crap. For a work hack Is say thats rare. Its been in this paint since 86 - atleast thats when the artist signed it - so I dont think advertising a toy store was rough on her. THe fella I bought from has had it for seven years and bought from the Toy guy.

Today I took her out on a scavenger hunt. Free Vanagon rims and tyres in Lynnwood and a $30 Bra near Seward Park. While in Lynnwood I paid Stuart a visit and showed the girl off.

Oh those are the Vanagon tyres on there now. I traded old C rated for worn D rated. Drives stiffer for sure. So Ill deal with the lack of tread for the moment till I get the Hankooks off the 74.

You suck!, next to trucks panels are my next favourite model. Very Happy
Nice score, I eyed that one a few times on CL but have no room for another project right now (I realize it's not really a project but the bears would have to go if I had it and I wouldn't get anything else done until it was more "presentable" Wink ), although I did consider it just for the shock factor, it'd be a blast to pick up Busdaddy junior from high school in it, muahh haa haaa... Twisted Evil "get in little boy, would you like some candy?" Surprised
I've got a 77 with a little more rust, 5 coats of paint, an RV vent hole in the roof and some splendid glue residue all over the inside, other than that it's the same color and same option package, kinda wishing I'd looked at that one a little closer now but at the same time it's good to see it's in good hands, afterall you need it to keep up with Matt and his collection Razz

But I am becoming concerned with the sudden trend of BC buses heading south, we've been pillaging WA state for years, it's disturbing not only because now it's not happening to someone else but more so because it may indicate even good bays have almost dried up down there Confused

When looking for panels I chose to get a late one. You dont see them around that much in the States due to the 70s US truck tax. Hell I think early double doors are more common Rolling Eyes

So I had to look North to find one. I dont think Ill have this all that long. I want a clean late Double Cab from Europe. Cool So when this is all clean and nice looking, Ill probably sell it. But that could take a couple of years.

When I changed out the tires today I crawled under and verified that the heater was there. Laughing I had this feeling that it was gone - but its there thank God.

The M Code gives it the Eber tri-fecta. BA 6 Eberspacher, 70 amp alt and a bigger - deep cycle bat? All when new. Still has the 70 amp. Stewart spotted it right off.

Very cool! Think there's any chance you can/will bring back the OG paint?
