You know its amazing how little I have worked on this lately. I live in Florida and its so oppressively hot out that I have little motivation to get out in the shop. Hopefully soon it will cool off a little. You have been following my builds long enough to know that once i get going I tend to go full tilt. Have a great weekend.

I'm back, i finally decided that enough time has passed since my obsession consumed me. So with a large cup of coffee I started in on the latest ride. Disassemble, disassemble, disassemble. Today I want it stripped to a bear shell and completely pressure washed.

I also decided at three in the morning the colors, L90D Pastel White in the top half and interior (this one had this color from the start) then the bottom will be L380 Turkis

What better way to celebrate labor day than to do a lot of labor on my new bus. I stripped her down to her birthday suit and cleaned her up. This week I want to get it sanded down and start on the metal repair. My plan is to be in paint in 30 days. We shall see.....

I have a concern I need help with. When I raised the roof on the westy there is a track screwed into the passenger side roof. It is about 8 ft long. Could this be a part of the tent option?? Any ideas?

The tent option? Maybe a tent option. Wink As in after market. Anything Westfalia related went into the gutter and didn't screw in with a slide in track.

Pics.......

I discovered a new sanding disc at the body shop supply house. It is a 8 in pad that you can mount on a high speed wheel buffer body. One word of advise it takes a lot of material off but does create heat. I am amazed at how much I got done in one day. I sanded half the bus and coated it with Phosphoric acid to kill what ever rust was left. I also cut out some rotten metal. Last week I bought a bay window door from this guy so that I can have some metal to use for the patch work. Have a great week you guys.

Hi
With the 8" wheel be sure to move around a bit on the large panels. If the panel builds up too much heat, it will warp.
Good luck

Thank you, this process sure beat the heck out of media blasting it like the last one. I have to keep in mind that this is not a show bus but an every day vehicle that I can take camping and not worry about it. At least this is what I have to keep telling myself.

Hi guys and gals, I finally got back to the build today. Got a lot done with the help of a friend. I still feel that I should be in paint in two weeks. I put down some self leveling filler in the upper channel. I did this in the last build and it worked great with the overall finish of the roof line and to help reduce the collection of water in the upper channel. Most of the exterior metal work is done I just need to install the passenger side battery tray. Enjoy the pics......
