You have to remove the pedal cluster to do it. I recently rebuilt my cluster and it's not hard.
The R&R of the cluster is about 30 minutes. Then you need to punch out the roll pin that holds the clutch pedal on. There's a external circlip that holds on the brake pedal. Now you can replace the spring, but maybe you should paint and lube it before reinstalling. Also check the clutch cable hook... mine broke and needed to be replaced.
Here's a picture of how the cluster goes together.

Just (2) 15mm bolts. You'll have to disconnect the clutch and gas cable 1st.
I think one of the magazines did a step by step article a few months ago. _________________ Glenn

Oh well Got it out quick enough however little problem adter i punched out the clutch pedal from shaft. when i tried to remove the pedal from the shaft the hook on the end of the shaft that connectes to the clutch cable broke its weld. Shaft is froze in the pedal. letting it soak. NEVER EASY!!!
