Hey Everyone - it's been years since I've been active here, but I'm excited to jump back in, as I just purchased my fourth 1973 Thing. I sold "Clem", my beloved '73 after my second child was born, citing no time, no energy, no space (we were living in San Francisco at the time). That car is still living in San Francisco, owned by a woman who has taken great care of the car and drives the heck out of it, as it was built to do.

My new car is an orange, '73, native California car in need of a serious cleaning and some deferred maintenance, but it's truly rust free, save for a shot lower windshield frame member due to a dried and cracked seal from the California sun. It has some neat vintage upgrades, like Recaro bucket seats, Smith's Wheels, etc, and unfortunately and aftermarket AS41 1600cc DP which seems to run fine and makes good compression. Top frame is straight, which is a bonus, for sure. The door stickers are vinyl and peel right off, thankfully.

Picking it up on Tuesday, paid 7,500.00 for it.

Cool! Rust free cars like that just don't exist where I live. It's funny how we sell them then want them back, I have a list. Enjoy, new car day is always a good day!

Congrats-that car was for a sale for a long time.

I am in Orinda as well. Let me know if you need a hand with anything. My car is still in the shop getting repaired from an auto accident.

Hey there - Looks like with both joined The Samba in 2004, as well! Sorry about your car. Yes, this was for sale for a long time; the problem was an unmotivated seller not happy with many of the candidates for purchase. It's taken some work!

Would love to get together at some point. I'll PM you with contact information.
