Here you go, it a 1963 Pacific Blue Vin #0234175, a July 1963 type 34.
Pros:
Complete Car
NO RUST (visible)
Perfect upper and lower dash + spare
complete and perfect steering column with signal arm
Perfect glovebox
Perfect headlight rings and Foglights
Perfect upper F&R upper pads
Perfect rechromed F&R bumpers and spares
complete interior seat and arm rests
VGC chrome vents with decent rubber all the way around
(too bad I sold my complete rubber set about a month ago)
Engine (1600 dual port) is out of the car with correct early tin.
Pan is 90 good with fiberglass repair under battery
Rear engine cover and intake grills present
Rebushed hinges
Perfect rear hatch lock with pop-up action still in order.
all correct type 34 knobs are there including fresh air and lighter.
Complete good pushbutton dash.
All original front and rear trunk mats
Front tray is present.
Extra parts
NOS top dash.
NOS Euro headlight rings (maybe will go for sale or trade)
NOS foglight rings
NOS Driver vent seal
NOS qrtr popout seals
NOS upper seal between chrome and door seal front to back
NOS hood seal
NOS rear trunk seal
NOS headlight seals
NOS foglight seals
NOS door lock seals
Canadian side badges(but it also has side markers)
Front Hood and rear decklid
Rebuilt Transmission
A very cool wiring harness, but i would like a stcok one.
Two pairs of door hinges
The CONS:
Needs a windshiled
a new wiring Harness
A good de-spidering and maybe a de-mousing
Radio area has been cut for pull out stereo
The MODS
1600 Dual port 12v
4 lug all around with late type 3 brakes and dual reservoir brakes
set up for stereo system.
As of yet, I still have to catalog all the parts I have. I am tempted to just getting it running and slightly drop it on Porsche wheels. _________________ I'd be UNSTOPPABLE if not for Law Enforcement and PHYSICS.
I recycle old cars and parts, other than when I rot, that's as Green as I am going to get.
Thanks to my Tesla driving neighbors, I feel more relaxed driving my SUBURBAN and old VW's.

I appreciate the offer but my 67 is keeping me busy and the 63 is next in line. I don't think I can find time to do one of these. By what I've seen from racoguy and bobnotch and a few others, they are in totally separate group. They're cool looking but I consider myself a novice compared to others who've been doing this for some time. You seem to have a good collection of pieces saved up already so you have a good start. I'm still working on some early 63 parts as well but the 67 has priority. _________________ MonT3

Believe it or not, It was easier to restore my previous type 34 than my '65 sunroof square. I really admire your courage in undertaking such a project. You Sir are more talented than me. I am really good at deconstructing and rebuilding, but you are fabricating. That's one notch higher than me. This car (type 34) needs minimal body work, and a new paint job. I think with the current inventory of parts on the car it could be UP THERE when it is done.. Thinking of the wiring gives me a headache ( I think it's going to take a few beers to digest this one ) _________________ I'd be UNSTOPPABLE if not for Law Enforcement and PHYSICS.

Wiring isn't that bad, Martin. What you need to do is bone up on automotive DIN wiring color codes and what they mean.
Here's an overview of DIN terminal codes:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DIN_72552
Here is a free download of DIN 47 002 which deals with the meaning of color codes:
http://www.allbookez.com/din-standard-47-002/
And finally, here's a good overview article about these things:
http://www.e38.org/understanding%20euro%20wiring%20diagrams.pdf
Why do you want to replace the harness- or do you just want to remove it for painting? _________________ Немає виправдання для війни! Я з Україною.

I think hubby's right, I AM colorblind!
How do you guys stumble upon these "buff her up and go" projects?
Nice Score!!!

Wow! Great source of info there Trammuel!
Story from the PO, car was being driven home and it shorted out. They started to pull wires to install an aftermarket wiring loom.
I don't like change, so call me predictable. I like that when I pull the dome light switch, that wire better be brown, if you know what I mean. Spoke to my body and paint guy and he is busy for another 6 months. Debating to wire it ans run it or just get it all done.
After a wash, car is very presentable and could easily be put together as a runner/driver, but type 34's are attention whores and deserve to be driven when they are all dolled up.
Sue, this car was on the samba for a few hours, it was spoken for when I called, but the sale fell through. Then I received a call from the seller and here it is. _________________ I'd be UNSTOPPABLE if not for Law Enforcement and PHYSICS.

I know exactly what you mean... if you meant brown with a white tracer.
Brown is straight ground, brown with a tracer is switched ground, and IIRC brown with a blue tracer is test port ground.
I always have my DIN info handy- makes things easier. It's like having the correct language skills to read a book. Wires that aren't properly coded interfere with reading the message. Nothing peeves me off more than seeing an incorrect color wire spliced in.
I know that here in the USA, correct wire colors can't always be found. In this case, I will make a repair inside the wire sheath with a color that's at least generally correct, and extend the correct wire that used to be inside the sheath outside the sheath so everything looks right. _________________ Немає виправдання для війни! I'm humbled by your comments, thanks. I enjoy working on my wagon. As for fabricating, I just had the idea of doing it and sought a place to put my idea on a piece of metal. You can do that too. I look forward to reading up on your rebuild and sorting out the gremlins in that T34. I'm in the weld/grind mode now and will be for a bit longer _________________ MonT3

Nice ride. I understand all the items on the table drink, tools, garden trowel? I am just starting to see the attraction of these Ghias. It is a very nice car. |
