Got a friend with a 73 Westy, he's putting an engine in out of a 77 or a 78.

Ultimately trying to determine if the mustache bar is different from an early type IV bay to a late.

He currently has the mustache bar but none of the brackets. As I recall, the earlier type IV bay brackets were triangular. My 77's are square. Is there any difference other than the shape? Without having a set of triangular ones, it's tough to figure which are needed. Will a set of square late brackets fit his 73?

I'm not aware of any difference in type 4 mustache bar brackets for bay buses, or the bars for that matter, sure you aren't getting something confused with a Vanagon?

The bar will fit. some have 3 holes in the hangers, some have 4. You may have to do some drilling
