Glad to see this thread didn't die. It's slow going, like most of our cars and that's ok. I've been laid up in bed due to a severe crash on my motorcycle. Soon as I'm able to get out and drive the beetle I will rejoin the game.
Next challenge: your vw at a doughnut house.

You would think so! I looked into it a week or so ago, and was rather shocked how far I would have to drive to get to one. Little mom & pop bakeries have survived, but for some reason, my area seems to have been rather hard on the dedicated donut shops!

Red ish Bug will work, Nobody will complain. Just rallying around in a VW completing a challenge will keep the game going. I think we can get this thread to catch on. Actually now that I think about it, Keeping it small may be better? Sad but true. Nothing to see here people, Move along.

The challenge was to get a pic of your vw next to a cycle of a like color. Ken has a red ish vw so he would look for a red one. If someone has a yellow vw they would look for a yellow one. Besides, wouldn't you want to get out in you vw and find a worthy picture? Clicking a picture without leaving your property would be kind of boring imo.

The earlybay is L345 light grey ... but the beetle in the driveway is white like my bike

Albertson Ranch, Conejo Valley (city of Thousand Oaks, California), 1970
From the photo source:
This was a "Working Water Well" located ( today ) at the end of the cul-de-sac on Edgecliff Circle. According to the 1955 Topo Map, this Well was identified and the 1952 Aerial Photo defines the two trees next to the Well. The shack could have been a movie set however, it was not identified on any Topo maps as a "structure".
Interesting, by 1980, the Aerial Photos show that the "windmill" is gone however, the large, underground water reservoir located at Windy Mountain Ave at Little Fawn Ave had been built....most likly where this well water was diverted to.
I must commend Mr. Noseworthy for his driving skills to get the VW up to this site ! Yes, it's nice and flat where the Water Well is but the Road getting to this location....wow ! Nice driving, Herb ! |
