Oddly enough, the awning was the first thing that I had bought for the van years ago. For no other reason than it was steeply discounted, to make way for a new model coming out. The problem with these older ones, was gaining enough clearance to drill a hole through the mounting bracket (from GoWesty, cookie from Van Café). One tool in my box that has paid for itself several times over, is this tight fit right angle drill attachment …

This made short work of what could have been a pain in the arse. I opted to install the body mounted cleats, to simply set up for various terrain.

I'm intrigued by the Westfalia door tag. Do the serial Number or ID # tie into anything with the VIN?
I have a Multivan clone and would love to have that on my door. I see he makes some other cool decals, I just need to figure out what to put on My Door sticker.

Lastly, a little decal implementation for the finishing touches. I wanted to incorporate a little more of the grey, and the decals were a good opportunity to do so. I also thought black decals might be a little too stark of a contrast. I ended up going through a few sets of the Club Joker decals. The problem with the ones that are available is that they are either way to small, the lettering is not correct, or both. I messaged Samba member lodcomm, who sells various decals, and asked him if he had the files to cut Club Joker decals. He said he did, but they really needed refining. We ended up going back and forth for a while, making minor alterations, reviewing photos online, figuring out sizing and running a trial set. The second set proved to be a winner. On the factory decals, the shaded half of the diamond is mirrored opposite to each side. To my knowledge, none of the available sets for sale include this detail. So if you are looking for an accurate reproduction of the originals, lodcomm can make it happen. This wraps up the paint and body phase, next up will be the interior, but it will probably be a little bit before I get started on it. I have been putting in a lot non-stop hours, and I need to take a break. Thanks again for the kind words.
