what do you think about the angle of the tow bar to the hitch? Do I need to get a receiver hitch adapter to lower it?

If you go accross a dip in the road or a sharp incline the bar might hit the body or bumper on the car and could cause some damage... I have towed with a similar setup and actually lifted the front end of the bug off the ground pulling in a steep drive..
It will be ok if you keep that in mind and avoid those situations..but yes, a drop hitch would be better. |

Thanks everyone. I took your advice and went out and bought this adjustable hitch from Northern Tool for $50. Ranges from an 8" drop to a 7" rise. Exactly what I needed!

The main reason to shoot for a nearly level hitch is braking. The hitch pivots at the lower torsion tube and at the ball. If the ball is a lot higher then when braking the bug will lift the back of the truck, cutting into stopping power and control. _________________
