I believe Brian sold the car. I bought the Porsche 2-pce cased Okrasa engine from him the day before California was locked down for Covid in March 2020.

As a matter of fact there is some progress. I sent the motor off to be completed by master engine builder James Arredondo. And I have an original Abarth muffler in very good condition that's going on the engine.

I'm looking forward to seeing more progress on this car Brian! I too am building a 56' Ragtop with an Okrasa engine...I only wish I was as far along as you are in these pictures. (I still have the early apron you sold me for my 55' tucked away...awaiting it's turn).
Keep up the great work! This thread gives me inspiration to finish my 56!!

Time to get this show back on the road. A lot has happened in my world the last year so I haven't gotten much done on the car front. Things might settle down a bit now so I'm gearing up to work on the 56 again.

The building you see in the background is new and I just finished building it. That was part of the delay, the other is that my daughter had twin boys and we've been helping a lot with that handful. Twins, WoW!

Today I moved the bug into a 1 car stall where the rest of the assembly will take place.

Damn, I really wish I could have done the paint on my 56! One of the previous owners did it, and besides a few fish eyes and primer sandpaper marks through the paint is pretty good, but I would have loved to have done it myself like you! Those panels look slick, are you doing single stage or is it cleared?

Great thread and great work... following this closely as my '55 3-Fold was originally black and I'm leaning keeping it that way (although yes.. I was thinking Strato Silver). Smile

Thats a mistake I've made twice already, and I'm prepared to make it plenty more times! Very Happy I hope you'll keep us updated, because I'm dying to see some more progress!

It's cool that your spraying it black, since alot of people don't like black cars, and stratos silver tends to be a go to color lately Mad

Be aware though, having a black car is a full time job, especially if your like me and writhe at the sight of spider webbing in the sun! Confused I will say that a black car with clear paint is way cooler than any other color though, especially on bugs!

Just don't rub it with any pressure, do the 2 bucket method when washing it, and always blow loose dust off rather than wiping if possible. Wink

No it doesn't. The tube was cut by PO Sad

I talked to Hollywood Speedometer a few years back about it and they didn't have a fix.

A BENO'S car? Too bad you didn't get the pair of Levis with the car that was commonly given to put the logo on. The local BENO'S clothing store used to be in the building where the Atascadero police department is now.

It was all mechanical. Sanding with various methods. We took extra time on the vent grill.
