Right now in my life my Westy travelling consists of 3 weeks in the summer for our long trip within the borders of the US and Canada, and multiple weekend trips in the spring, summer, fall. I follow some blogs and Facebook "blogs, posts, stories" of those traveling for an extended or open period of time and at times (at times being about 99%), I'm very envious.

How many of you have lived for a year plus in your Westy while traveling and checking things out. Did you head north through Canada and trek your way to Alaska? Did you head south to the Peruvian Andes. Did you give up your job or did losing a job provide you the opportunity to say "f&%k it, I'm going to travel". Have any of you written a book about your experiences?

What other fun blogs are out there to follow? DriveNachoDrive and Travel2Explore are both fun to follow.

Well since you asked, I do keep a favorites folder of these when I see them. to name a few, there's likely dozens more that I haven't had the pleasure to run across..

Great people! Mike was kind enough to give me his GW coolant pipe fix kit to help me get back home from Moab. Thanks Mike!

My favorite is Foster, know him from the fashion world. A year ago he was just out of college, got a book deal, quit his job in NYC and bought a Syncro. Been living in it and traveling ever since. All are his:

I think it is amazing that all of us have the ability to do it with our vans. If not now one day. After following Nacho now for some time it motivates me. I told my wife about their slow pot cooker the other day and she said when do we go? I will know when the right time comes along.

But life is short!

i can't say i live the vanlife, but i do tow our van around the country behind our RV. been doing it for 4 years now and love it. If it was just me and the mrs i'd go van only, but with two large dogs, a kid, and a cat (now gone) and a full time job i wasn't really down with living in a van.

That is awesome you did a bicycle tour with the whole family, and, the triple tandem(or whatever you call that machine) bike is really amazing. Did you buy that, or just rent it for the trip. That thing would take up quite a bit of space in an RV.
I really enjoyed catching up with your family and what you guys have been doing since SyncroZest/SyncroSandblast 2012.
Salud!

I accidentally happened upon this page this morning; the co-founder of Bedrock Sandals has a Vanagon and uses it extensively. Great interior mods as well:

The Vanagon Westy makes a great base for a photographer. I found this short video and blog by photographer Joel Schat. His blue Westy is featured prominently.

i am honored to have made the list... rumor has it that once again Kaya will depart from the safe harbors of a conventional life and head deeper into the northern woods sometime in the next six weeks. SPOILER ALERT! Portland watch out! shutter your windows, hide your children... We will be passing thru soon come!
